Vehicle Detail
NO RESERVE!!! Low Starting Bid... 1958 2 Dr Ford Ranch Wagon. This car is complete but not running. It is from a friend’s estate and I am listing it for his daughter. The car has not run in over 30+ years and has sat in the exact same spot outdoors, luckily it is in dry Southern California. It has always been in So Cal and the car is solid! I could find nothing but surface rust however I was not able to look underneath the car to check out the floors. I would expect that occasional rain may have caused some rust in the floor which may need some patching but overall this is a very solid car with no accident damage. It has a V8 engine but I am unsure exactly what displacement. Exact mileage is unknown. Please look the photos over carefully. The car is complete but needs a full restoration. The car is sold AS IS, WHERE IS!!! All the tires are flat and the buyer will have to drag it out or bring wheels or skates. It is only a few feet from the property line and an asphalt alley so this should be relatively easy for any auto transporter. !!!NO TITLE!!! The title was lost in a fire, however the owner’s daughter will provide a bill of sale and a copy of the death certificate of the registered owner along with old registration slips for the car. I will try and answer any questions however I am remote from the car so I can not check anything physically. My knowledge of the car is limited.Full payment due through PayPal within 3 days. Buyer must take possession and remove the vehicle from the property within two weeks of close of auction. Someone will meet buyer at property to give access by appointment. On Oct-25-14 at 09:21:16 PDT, seller added the following information: This is a genuine "Black Plate" California Car. It's a bit of an overused term but this is the classic example. It still retains it's plates issued in 1963 when California changed from the yellow plates and all cars had to display the new black plates. On Oct-26-14 at 21:30:42 PDT, seller added the following information: The valve covers say "Thunderbird" on them and I am told that the Thunderbird engine was an option for the car.On Oct-27-14 at 10:35:56 PDT, seller added the following information: I found a VIN decoder and it shows the following:1958 Ford!VIN: C8LR140943Engine CodeCV8 292 ci OHV - 2V Carb. 205hpProduction Year81958Assembly PlantLLong BeachBody StyleRCustom / Custom 300 Ranch Wagon / Country SedanProduction Sequence140943140943Data Plate informationBody Series59ATudor Ranch WagonPaint ColorsLAzure BlueTrimUBlue Sof-Textured Vinyl and Blue Whipcord Embossed Vinyl or Blue Embossed-Stitch VinylDate Code10FJune 10, 1958Transmission Type13 Speed Manual ShiftRear Axle43.89:1On Oct-29-14 at 16:16:31 PDT, seller added the following information: I have verified that there are some rust holes in the floor behind the passenger's seat, as expected. There could be other rust areas on the floor/frame which would be better seen when the car is put on a lift. This rust is caused by rainwater leaking into the cabin over the years so expect to do some floor patching/welding. I just want to make the description as accurate as possible so that the buyer has no surprises. On Oct-30-14 at 22:01:30 PDT, seller added the following information: I want to be clear that the car is being sold AS IS, WHERE IS and AS IS SITS. The tires are rotted and will not hold air. The seller will have to either bring rims/tires or put the car on wheel dollies. Some auto transporters won't deal with non-rollers and some will, with additional cost. As you can see from the photos, it is on dirt so it won't be that easy with wheel dollies, however it does not have to travel far, just a few feet before there is asphalt. I do not know if a brake drum is frozen or not but it is a possibility given the length of time it has sat in the same spot. There are several methods to free a rusted/frozen brake drum - just google it. I just want to make sure the buyer knows that it will be a bit of a challenge to move the car if the buyer does not furnish roller wheels but it can certainly be done by someone who knows what they are doing. Please don't bid unless you accept this. Thanks. On Oct-30-14 at 22:19:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry, made a typo (typed Seller instead of Buyer) on last info entry and can't edit it directly: See third sentence below... I want to be clear that the car is being sold AS IS, WHERE IS and AS IS SITS. The tires are rotted and will not hold air. The ***BUYER***will have to either bring rims/tires or put the car on wheel dollies.
