Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a very nice, original 1964 Falcon Ranchero. This little car was purchased new by my great uncle in Whittier, California. He owned the car until his death in 2011. He stopped driving the car in 2009 as at 95 years old, he took his own license away! My 80 year old father was "sold" this car and an old Impala by my second cousin, who took advantage of my father and charged him many thousands of dollars. My father has no use for the car at his age and therefore asked me to sell it for him. We have done dome work to it to bring it back up to a nice driver, but it was in good shape to start with as it has always been garaged.. Work completed: Professionally rebuilt carb. New fuel Pump New cap-rotor-points-condenser-spark plugs New battery Oil and filter Air filter New fuel lines (hose) New vacuum advance There might be a few other things, but the car was in generally good shape. It runs and drives very nice for a 50 year old car. I can see that at some point my great uncle had the head rebuilt as it is black, not blue. A relative added power steering years ago for him. The basic install is great with new, bigger steering rods, big hydraulic cylinder and nice hoses. The power steering pump is from some newer ford and the brackets don't exactly fit right. It is very solid and stable and the car steers like a Cadillac, but I would do a little re-engineering of the pump brackets or buy some repro brackets and OEM pump. But as it, works great. The wheels were upgraded to 14" off of a mustang many years ago as my great uncle didn't like the little 13". The tires are excellent and the brakes are about new. The car shifts smooth and the drive line is tight. I am sure my great uncle spent a lot of money on the car over the years maintaining it. The body is original and pretty straight. It was repainted in the early 1980's in it's original color and shines well, but there are various chips and nicks in the finish from age. You can see in the pictures there is a dent in each quarter panel right in front of the rear bumper and one right in front of the right rear wheel. I assume he must have backed into something a couple of times and bent the bumper. The bumper looks to have been rechromed at some time and probably straightened. I spent a lot of time looking under the rear of the car at the frame area and bumper mounts and do not see any damage or bending. I think he must have hit the corners of the bumpers at some time and bent them into the body?? After all, he was about 5'1", so seeing over the hood or the bed was tough.. He used to sit on a pillow.. The doors will need new new stopper straps on the hinges, but open and close properly with no sagging or binding and all body gaps are great. Has an antique bed cover. All of the trim is OEM and very nice. The interior is in nice shape for original. The seat was recovered 35 years ago and my uncle had a love for shag- see carpet!! I believe everything as far as lights, gauges, etc work properly. Original weatherstripping. Nice original headliner but missing the dome light lens. Nice original visors. Great glass. Old 1976 aftermarket radio works like an old 1976 aftermarket radio should.. barely... They didn't cut the dash, so an original radio can be installed. As far as the interior goes, all I can say is original and not mint, but well cared for. This is a very rare car in that most of these have been abused or modified. It has never hauled any weight or big items. My great uncle was not into heavy work. It was basically used as an around town scooter for him and his wife. If they went long distance they took the Impala. Keep in mind that this is a mostly original 50 year old car.. thats half a century.. So, she is by no means mint. But if you want one of the last one owner, original, never abused 1964 Ranchero's left, than this car is for you. It is currently registered and insured and I drive it around a little on weekends. It draws a lot of attention. With it's patina and color, it looks so classic that people are always commenting on it. Don't miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity to get one of these rare little Ranchero's. This car means a lot to us and hopefully it will mean just as much to you. We do have various receipts and registrations that go way back that come with the car. The plates on the car are new only because my great uncle actually had a very vintage set of blue and yellow California custom plates on it and my second cousin wanted them. Please ask any and all questions before bidding. On Oct-23-14 at 11:28:24 PDT, seller added the following information: Here are some answers to questions I have received: I am not certain "WHY" the tailgate doesn't align with the body, could be that the bushings are just old and worn. The metal strip at the base of the tailgate...I have no idea why my Uncle put that there and we didn't want to remove it because there would be screw holes left in the metal.4 lug, original baby differential and only 4 lug available and spindles are original. 5 lug was only on the V8 model and this is an original baby 6cyl.Only a small amount of rust behind the metal plate at the base of the tailgate...other than that rust free.No frame damage due to any accidents. Only body damage due to my Uncle backing into something, so both corners by the bumper are "dinged".No fluid leaks.Doesn't burn any oil.The picture of the undercarriage seems like there is "white stuff" underneath, but there isn't...it is the picture, probably the flash. The chassis is very clean.Car is one owner and has been garaged in Southern California for 50 years. (technically, my father is the second owner).I can't add another picture, but here are the numbers from the ID plate: 66A, 44, 16F, 711390, 5, 3, 4H27U215487On Oct-25-14 at 19:58:26 PDT, seller added the following information: I have lowered the reserve. Almost there! Somebody will be lucky new owner of from what I can see the only one family owned original 1964 Ranchero. Best of luck!
