First off, it is what it is. It is not a perfect show jeep or a super flexible rock crawler, It is a good running, 4 cylinder, 19 year old jeep with some rust, a bad paint job, a lift, and 35's I Purchased this to fix up with my son for his first vehicle. He informed me that he really doesn't want to drive manual transmission (or a jeep with square headlights) ... so I need to sell it. I have only driven it about 200 miles. Looks like it has a newer radiator, I gave it a tune up with new plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, ignition coil and fuel filter. Previous owner had recently changed the oil. Battery has some age but still functions well. Brakes look good, the rear drums do need parking brake cables installed (I have them new in the box, just not installed yet). It runs well and the four wheel drive seems to work good as well. Has had the front 4wd vacuum actuator lock changed out for a manual cable locking system. Exhaust will need to be replaced soon. The transmission grinds a little when shifting. From what I understand the synchros get worn. I drained the transmission and put Pennzoil Synchromesh gear oil in. I read in the Jeep forums that after a few hundred miles the grinding will get better. It has already improved after only a few miles I have driven since the change. The jeep has some rust (as most older jeeps do) and the previous owner put sheet metal floor pans down. I would replace the windshield frame eventually. Lights and gauges work, no check engine lights on, there is no radio in it right now. It does have a locking security console with an internal radio mount. Aftermarket 4" lift., stainless hinges. Soft top and 2 pc. soft doors are showing some age but work well. Has the folding back seat with seat belts. The front seats have a few small tears, but are overall not too bad. 5 BRAND NEW Mastercraft COURSER MXT 35x12.50 tires with less than 250 miles mounted on decent aluminum rims (spare is steel/black) (These tires alone sell for $1100.00) The previous owner apparently thought he was a painter... he used spray paint to repaint the interior and exterior, just about everything. In my opinion, it is a 20 footer - it looks OK if you are about 20 feet away. We just need to sell it so I can get my son what he wants before he gets his license.
