Vehicle Detail
The Car This is a rare and hard to find car. The first hardtop convertible in the United States since the Ford Fairlane. It was is loaded with unique touches that were almost unheard of in the 90s. A 320 hp twin turbo engine married to a 6 speed manual transmission pushing power to all four wheels. Amped up with, all wheel steering, and tunable suspension. Nothing below $100,000 came with half the performance. Mechanically the car is sound. All of the electronics work and are factory original, power windows, seats, locks, window defroster, the stereo, and keyless entry. Most importantly, the top functions without fault. The car has no fluid leaks and the glass is clear. it has never been in an accident, there are a few defects detailed below. I purchased the car in 2003 with 63,000 miles on it, so I have put 14,000 on it in the last 11 years. I know it sounds corny but I pretty much only drove it in the summer or on sunny days. When I purchased the car I had the dealer perform the 60k maintenance. Issues typical of the 3000GT 1. Some of the chrome is peeling on the factory wheels 2. On the roof there is some clear coat peeling. 3. The auto dimming rear view mirror has some clouding and it's a little loose although it's never bothered me enough to feel the need to do anything about it. Specific issues with this car 1. The power antenna will not retract into the body . 2. There is a small dent in the hood that occurred while I had it parked at work. The paint is undamaged so the cause is a mystery. You should be able to pop it back out or use one of those paintless dent removal techniques. 3. The driver's seat has a split seam shown in the pictures. It is on the seam, so it should be fairly easy to fix. 4. There is some damage to the rear bumper. Rather than slathering it with bondo and trying to cover it up I elected to purchase a replacement bumper. I haven't gotten to installing it, and at this point I don't want to. So it will be included in the sale of the car for the new owner install at their leisure. 5. The rubber seals for the windows are almost 20 years old, so they have hardened a little bit in their old age. so I would not recommend running it through a car wash. Standard driving in rainy weather, or short term parking outdoors are not much of a problem but I would recommend keeping it in a garage. 6. The clip that holds the driver side visor in place has broken. The visor still stays in place without the clip. 7. This is a 19 year old car and has the little nicks and scrapes typical of a car of this age with original paint. Most of this can be buffed out. What's Important: This is a truly excellent car to drive, and a real attention getter. People have photographed me and the car in traffic. With 320 hp it isn't the fastest car on the road today, but it is faster than most. The AWD means it takes off like a rocket, corners extremely well, and the all wheel steering means that changing lanes at speed is more like stepping sideways than actually turning. The tunable suspension lets you stiffen the suspension with the push of a button increasing the handling performance of the car. The stereo is equipped with an AUX input, something almost unheard of in the 90s, so an IPod can be plugged in. Drop the top with the push of a button and it's an instant head turner. It is fantastic to drive on an open road with the top down, always putting me in a good mood even after a tough day at work. Given that only 850 VR-4 Spyders were ever made, and even fewer are left unmolested, this car is poised to become an exclusive collectible. Terms The car is being sold as is, with no warranty or any other guarantee. A non refundable deposit of $1000 must be made by PayPal within three days of purchase, with the remainder due by cashier's check or cash within seven days, unless other arrangements are made and agreed upon. I am willing to ship but the arrangements and cost must be completed by the buyer. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions on the vehicle before deciding.
