Vehicle Detail

I am selling this car for my husband, and this description is in his own words: "Overdrive, original 8-tube radio, V8, Magic Air heater intact, no rust, interior is an "8" (10 being the highest), trunk cardboard new, new trunk mat, correct hubcaps, standard 15-inch whitewalls, correct original plastic vertical hood ornament, correct oil bath cleaner, and radio, speedometer, and all gauges work. Has small dents in horizontal upper chrome of the grill. Paint is an "8." Correct brown and cream color. Small occasional paint chips. Extra speedometer included. A great Vicky!" My husband trailered this car home from California about ten years ago. He has used it for local errands and visits. He has taken it to the shop for little adjustments now and then-- lightbulbs, rewiring, etc., but in general, it has been a great, reliable car. It starts nicely, and runs well. However, it is more than sixty years old, and we are selling it AS IS, no guarantees. Please contact me with any questions you have, and I will do my best to get them answered! Thanks for looking! On Aug-06-14 at 08:29:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Cylinder heads for Ford cars years `49/`51 are stamped 8BA. Heads stamped EAB are higher compression and for years `52/`53.Do you have the VIN plate or not?A second place to look, and it's hard to find without a flash light, and scraping off paint and rust, is: With the hood open, leaning in over the passenger side fender, down by where the lower part of the radiator support bracket meets the frame rail, there is a small, diagonal, flat metal piece welded at an angle between the radiator support and the frame rail. The VIN is stamped on to that plate. On Aug-06-14 at 08:32:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Good morning! We have concluded the search for VIN plates and/or numbers, and we just can't locate any. We'll see if we can get someone else to take a look. Sorry. Thanks for all of the details on the car.On Aug-06-14 at 08:35:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Your car appears to be missing the Patent Plate that should be located on the passenger side firewall just below the vertical seam behind the engine. That plate contains the VIN and depending on month of production also the "Cowl Codes" that describe the car as it left the factory. Your car has a half horn ring indicative of a car produced past mid-year.The engine has EAB heads which are from a `52/`53 engine. When the engine was rebuilt was a 4" Mercury crank added, and headers? On Aug-06-14 at 08:37:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Good morning, Gary. My husband says it has the regular flat head V-8. The only thing that appears different to him is the boltheads, which are now chrome. He does not know about the crank, but doesn't think it has been modified. On Aug-06-14 at 08:39:07 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello, and thank you for your interest. My husband just drove it, and everything works -- today. Remember, it's an old car. He said the steering could be tightened a little. Bubbly spots on the car are these that we have noticed: small patches on upper right grill, passenger side door bottom, toward the front, and in the back, left of the trunk. Light surface rust above the tail lights. Happy bidding! On Aug-06-14 at 08:42:05 PDT, seller added the following information: For anyone puzzled about the info I just added, I forgot to post the questions and answers initially, and could not find an easy way to add them after the fact. I hope you can sort through the info and make sense of it. Also, we have the fender skirts for this car. Thanks for your patience with this listing, and happy bidding! Andi
