Vehicle Detail

The car is being relisted - Please read carefully the terms of the auction. The last high bidder did not follow the terms of the auction and this wasted everyone's time. I mean no offense by these terms, they are intended for that special type of bidder who has a tendency to "misunderstand" the terms of the sale. If you have fewer than 15 feedbacks, please email me before you bid otherwise I will cancel your bid. You must be an American citizen Before bidding on this car please understand that you personally must pick up the car, so you will need a drivers license. Under no circumstances will I release the car to the winning bidders "cousin". I need to see your license to confirm your identity. We need to fill out ALL of the dmv paperwork and sign it before I can release the car to you. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this. If the name of the ebay account does not reasonably match the name of the paypal account and the drivers license or other ID, the sale is cancelled. The deposit is due via PayPal within 3 hours of the auction close. The PayPal account must also belong to you and show your name and it must say "verified address". You get the idea - I do not want to deal with any scams or unessesarily complicated transfers of title. This is a beautiful, reliable car. This e320 has been a part of our lives for about 7 years now and has never let us down. It is an elegant yet very rugged and well built machine, I have been nothing but impressed. We will miss this car and I have been somewhat reluctant to sell it but my wife purchased a newer model. I will be adding further information as I remember it during the auction. Please check back often for updates and additional photos. Again - I will be updating information here as I remember it almost daily, but you are ultimately responsible for making sure you have investigated this car to your full and complete satisfaction. $200 Paypal deposit is required within 3 hours of the end of the auction. This deposit is NON REFUNDABLE, so please make sure you have asked questions and have done your homework before you place a bid. On Jul-10-14 at 00:25:22 PDT, seller added the following information: ** Updates will be posted here that provide additional information I would like this to be a simple, clean and easy transaction. To me that means the buyer shows me their valid drivers license, is going the not only pay for the car in cash minus the deposit, but will also be the owner on title. Everything must be on the up and up for this sale to be successful. Additional details on the car - Stereo system - Sound quality is beyond any car I have ever had. I have driven brand new loaner c class Mercedes that do not have a sound system that sounds as good as this one does. HOWEVER - This radio has the "runaway volume" that was I hear pretty common for these radios. What happens is that often when you turn the volume knob even slightly up or down, the volume will sometimes very suddenly become very loud, no matter what direction you turn the knob. Preventing the runaway volume control can be mastered - It takes some practice. If during the first few weeks you own the car, the volume shoots up while you are driving, push the volume button to turn off the stereo. Wait until you are parked somewhere then turn on the stereo again and quickly reduce the volume. You have to turn the knob in such a way that is impossible to explain, it just takes some practice. My wife is an expert at using the volume and I can usually get it after a few tries. The stereo can also be removed, mailed in to several shops around the country that will repair the volume I think it is around $100 or less. Wiring Harness - At some point during the 90's Mercedes decided to use some type of "biodegradable" insulation on the wiring harnesses that connected 80+ electronic components in the engine. Within 2 to 3 years, owners started reporting that the insulation was falling off the wires, leaving the copper exposed. This sometimes resulted in shorts which could cause some components to malfunction. The wiring harness was expensive, at one time $1,500 to replace. The prices have come down substaintially since then where you can probably buy the wirnig harness for less than $500 and then pay to have a mechanic install it. This car has the original wiring harness and there is exposed wire in places. Over the years I would mention it to the dealer, they said if it is not causing a problem then leave it alone. That is what we did and we have not had a problem with it. Oil Leak - This car has has an oil leak located at the rear of the engine at the headgasket and the leak has been there since we bought the car over 7 years ago. Maybe 1 quart of oil per year or so. Like I said the car functions perfectly. Everything works. Cold AC, shifts nice, all gauges seem to work well, no tears in seats that I know of. Car was kept very clean and maintained at the dealer. I can't really think of anything else which is why I strongly suggest any bidder ask questions before bidding. The car has about 214,000 miles on it. At some point it will need repairs, things will need to be fixed here and there. If the oil leak on the head gasket becomes a problem to the point where it needs repair, that can cost $3,000 give or take. We have lived with it for 7 years but there is no guarantee. It could go another 10,000 miles or another 100,000 or more. This E class mercedes was actually cheaper to maintain than my c class. The cost for each repair is more expensive on the E class, but it requires repairs less often, the repairs last longer, for many components much longer. Over the last 7 years I would not doubt that the cost to own this car was less than the cost to own the C class, which is also a great car but not as well built. Clear smog check and clear title in hand..
