Vehicle Detail
Due to me moving soon I must sell my 1966 Olds 98 hearse. This is the smaller Seville model build on a standard Olds 98 convertible frame and main body. The car is sold with a bill of sale because no one knows who the last registered owner was since it has not been on the road since the mid 80's. DMV did a search and could not find the car in their system. I believe the last time it was registered it was registered in Missouri. From what I was told by someone else who has one of the cars there were only 9 known to exist before I found this one. This would make 10. It appears that this car was set up as a coroners car or ambulance and not as a hearse combo because there are no rollers in the floor. It is missing the drivers door panel, drivers side door handle, hood hinges, some lower chrome and a few other small parts but I would say the car is 90% complete. I have searched Ebay and found all the missing parts I looked for. When I got it there was no drive train so I bought a low mileage Chevy small block 350 and 350 turbo transmission. I added Edelbrock carburetor, Edelbrock performer intake, Edelbrock chrome valve covers, Edelbrock air cleaner and gear drive timing set. Included with the car is any new parts I have already purchased like rear brake shoes, wheel cylinders and a roll of brake line with fittings. I put tires on it recently with the Crager SS wheels shown in the pictures. I also bought a master cylinder and booster from an 84 GMC 1500 to upgrade the brakes to a more modern system. The old master cylinder is included but is rusted stiff. I have 3 original 66 Olds 98 wheel covers in case you want to go back to stock wheels. The windshield is cracked but all other windows are perfect. There is a big dent in the right side rear door and another one in the right side quarter panel. The front floors are rusted out. I formed some sheet metal to weld into place but never got a chance to weld them in. Replacement floor pans are available on the internet if you want to do it the right way. This car is based on a 1966 Olds 98 and not stretched so parts from a regular 1966 Olds 98 will fit in most applications. The only parts I know for sure that are not available to be replaced would be the rear loading door and rear door glass. The side glass is all flat so if something happens and the side windows get broke you can have flat glass cut to fit. From what I was told the Olds and Cadi hearse from 1965 to 1969 all had the same windshield and that glass is available from a glass shop. This car needs a lot of work but I believe that I have most of the parts needed to get it running. I unfortunately have to sell my baby because we are moving across the country and have no where to store her when we get to where we are moving. I hate to sell her because I know I will never find another one. I hope someone can save her because if no one buys her I will have no choice but to sell her for scrap because there is no other option. The scrap yard told me she would bring about $450 so I am starting this auction at $500. I am losing money either way but if you buy her at least she will still have a chance to exist. The best thing about this project is that when she is done and you take her to a show, you will never have to park next to another 1966 Olds hearse. I can assist in loading but you will need to arrange shipping. If you would like to look at her in person please let me know so I can set it up. $100 nonrefundable deposit is required within 3 days of auction end. The car needs to be moved by 9/1/2014. You can pay off in cash in person when you pick up the car or with Paypal. No money orders or checks will be accepted. I will not accept COD or the scam about sending a fake money order with the driver who is picking the car up. There is no warranty and the car is sold as is where is. If there are any questions please ask and I will answer to the best of my ability. On Jul-18-14 at 14:05:03 PDT, seller added the following information: The engine is out of the car so the person picking up the car will need to have a way to load the engine. I have a come along but no engine hoist. You can text me with questions. 319-670-8046 New pictures were just added.
