Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1976 CB550. I have known the owner of this bike since before the day he purchased it. He drove the bike for about two years for fun and it was stored after the summer of 1978. The Honda was pulled out of storage in 1984 and was running again and ridden a few times and was not touched again until I purchased it from him about two years ago. I have five other motorcycles and do not have time to love it like it should be loved. I had the bike put back in running order by a professional shop that works on vintage bikes. The carbs were 100% rebuilt and synced, the front brakes were rebuilt, valves adjusted. This thing starts right up and runs and stops great. I have only put about 60 miles on it since I have owned it. I do not have the heart to break 3,000 miles on the odometer. Please, if you want to chop this up to make a cafe' racer out of it, please look somewhere else. It is too nice to do that to it. I will list below the good and the bad for the bike, there will be no re-negotiation when the bike is picked up. It is a 38 year old time capsule and has its share of scratches etc. I have tried to post all of the defects as well as the good in the pictures. I am a fair and honest person and I try and be thorough with my descriptions. 2,982 original miles! Runs and drives as it should. I have original owners title. I never registered this bike, so, it is still a one owner bike. I have the title signed by the original owner. There is no buyer or any other information listed on the title. Just the signature of the original owner. Purchaser can fill out the title and be the second legal owner of the bike. All lights work, brake, signals and annoying signal beeper. Original tool pouch and all tools come with the bike. Two original keys come with the bike. Three owner manuals, brochure and other marketing items/ads come with the bike. I even have the original warranty card/letter from Honda. The pipes are not rotted out like most of these bikes are. there is one spot of corrosion on the pipes I took a picture of. (I was offered $1,500.00 for the two exhaust pipes.) Original side covers are both there and are not cracked and all tabs are there and not broken. The ORIGINAL tires are still on the bike and are not dry rotted. I would not drive these things to Daytona, but they look great still. (They are 38 years old.) The seat is not split, ripped or torn. There is an abrasion in the chrome strip in one area. The paint on the tank is not faded purple like most of these bikes are, this bike was stored inside it's entire life. Most of the original stickers and yellow warranty paint spots are still on the bike as you can see in the pictures. The only things that are not original on this bike are the hand grips, spark plugs and what was replaced to rebuild the front brakes. The bike comes with a NOS front fender from Honda that I paid $350.00 for. It is still in the box. Included are two chrome gauge covers, I never installed them. The bad, again, I try and be as honest as I can. Again, this is NOT a restored motorcycle. the are chips in the paint, surface rust, two small dings in the tank (done at repair shop, thanks for nothing.), and anything else that would be consistent with a 38 year old original vehicle. This is a true survivor motorcycle. It gets allot of attention. There are chips and two small dings in the tank. See arrows in pictures. Discoloration on left mirror. Front fender has surface rust and a scratch. A brand ne NOS fender comes with the bike. Please look at the pictures carefully! I am not trying to scare anyone off, I just try to treat people the way I like to be treated. A few chips in the black paint on the gauges. I will be out of town the week of July 14th, (M-F) The bike will not be able to be picked up that week. I will answer questions via eBay messenger. When sold, I will also provide buyer with contact information. On Jul-04-14 at 21:14:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention, the speedometer works but is slow to respond. It goes up slowly and goes back to zero slowly. I'm sure the grease has thickened over the years. I was going to take it apart and lube it, but did not want to risk breaking it.
