I picked this FJ up at an estate auction a couple of years ago and had great plans for it but my health condition has forced me to sell it. My loss your gain! The story behind this FJ: The owner was a president of a bank in Idaho and he picked this up as a repossession in 1972. He then took it to his hunting lodge in northern Idaho and stored it in a barn until hunting season came along. He only used it in the hunting seasons. The FJ had been in his garage for about 5-6 years when I bought it. Before his death in 2007 after a lengthy battle of cancer, he was having a frame on restoration done. The exterior has been painted and the the floor area of the interior as well. It does have new seat covers and the seat frames painted, that is about as far as it got. It also has quite a few stainless steel bolts throughout interior and exterior. After I bought it, I took it to another level with a few new parts and details, they are listed below. All glass is good, all lights, flashers, turn signals, wipers and washers work including dome light! The 4 wheel drive works well, even the green light on the dash indicating it is in 4 wheel drive works! Probably could use a front end allignment, I did install new tie rod ends and have only allined the front end with a tape measure.The milage show on the speedometer is believed to be correct based on the overall condition of the vehicle. There appears to be no rust other than surface rust on the undercarriage. You can still see the spot weld dimples in the rear quarter panels. The springs that hold the front brake lines up are still attached to the brake lines and inner fender well! There may have been a dent in the left rear lower corner that has been repaired but I don't believe it was rusted out because its still solid on the underside. A magnet does hold in the rust prone areas. There is a small minor dent shown in one of the pics of the running board and right fender that happened when it was being transported to me, it will be sold as is. The fuel gage does not work, I have a NOS sending unit coming tomorrow to install so will see if that's it, if not it will be sold as is, all other gages do work. Dash is in excellent condition with no cracks in the padded area and no additional switches installed in dash, it is completely stock. The seat covers were done in dark blue with light blue cord, very nicely done. The rear heater is not stock, it is an aftermarket heater and works great. I have not driven this FJ more than a hundred miles so all I can say is it runs good, drives straight, does not smoke or leak oil, stops well and does not overheat. As far as rather or not it would be reliable for a cross country trip would be up to you, but I personally with a few more details to it like fix fuel gage and do a minor tuneup and front end allignment would trust it. As most early Cruiser owners know, these beast's aren't made to run 65-75 miles an hour on the freeway, it is comfortable at 55 or so. I did start coating the undercarriage with POR but it is only about 50% complete but I do have the materials to finish it. It does have the original manual for it as well as the original keys, one for the ignition and one for the fuel tank. This FJ is not perfect by anymeans but if your looking for a complete unmolested Cruiser to drive as is or to take to another level, dont let this one get away! I would rate this 44 year old Cruiser an 8 out of 10. The reserve I have on it is well below what a lot of junk is selling for on ebay so I feel comfortable with the reserve and the buy it now price. On Jun-23-14 at 08:08:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Here are a few more things I would like to add to the description: I did install HFS spring shackles with a 1 1/2 inch lift The headliner area does need some attention, it has a tear about a 1/2 inch long in the center and also has some surface rust on the interior lip. It does need cleaned and reattached in the rear corners. The sun visors are in good shape. The 4 wheel drive shifter is a lever under the dash between the steering wheel and heater. The lever has 3 positions, hi gear, low gear and neutral. There is also a knob you pull from the dash area that engages the 4 wheel drive. A green light on the dash indicates it is in 4 wheel drive. It also has locking hubs. I also have the rear bumper step that will go with the cruiser, it has four 1/2 inch holes that needs filled in but other wise is in great shape. All numbers do match on the title, frame and tub. On Jun-23-14 at 18:16:42 PDT, seller added the following information: More details. There are thin plates under the four mounting feet of the rear seats, I don't know the reason, maybe there was surface rust because the underside of the fender well with the factory mounting nuts appears to be solid.
