The City of Fernandina Beach is selling a 1999 Ford F-350 ambulance by means of a NO RESERVE auction. The truck was removed from Fire & Rescue service about 5 years ago and it was painted and used a Police SWAT vehicle. It has had little use over the last few years, but overall this truck is in POOR condition. This truck is equipped with the 7.3L diesel engine and is coupled to an automatic transmission. This truck would make a great service/utility vehicle with a little TLC or a good parts vehicle. There are a few issues that were noted during a recent inspection and they are listed below:Service light comes on intermittently. When the light comes on the engine loses power/throttle and it will only operate at idle speed. Turning the engine off and back on clears it for awhile. This problem occurred twice on a 10 mile test drive. A/C does not work - compressor cycles on and off quickly, suspect low Freon levelPower mirrors do not workTires are all in good shape and have good treadThere are several light holes in the patient box that have been covered with aluminum plates. As you can see from the pictures, there are still some holes in the front fenders and grill that need to be covered. You can also see red on top of the patient box from where the light bar was removed. Hood is faded/clear coat is peeling The City encourages all prospective bidders to inspect items prior to bidding.
