Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a 1970 Chevelle Malibu that was purchased brand new from the old Scarborough Chevrolet in Statesville, North Carolina by my mother. This was my mother’s personal car and she drove it until emphysema took her life in 1981. My father then used the car as his daily driver until 2010 when he wanted to drive a 4 cylinder car for better gas mileage. My father is meticulous about taking care of a car from the motor stand point. He changes oil every 3, 000 miles and he rinsed off the motor daily. Now he had trash throughout the interior, but the motor was spotless. Maybe that is why the motor has NEVER been rebuilt; in fact the car still has the original battery cables. This car has NO RUST. My mother had left the car to me, but I let dad drive it all those years and now he needed room for his new car so I got the car in 2010. I had a new paint job done on the car right away. The original color was green, but I chose white for the exterior. The interior is green vinyl with cloth inserts. Dad had the front seat inserts redone a few years back but did not use the original cloth insert from the factory. I bought the original fabric from a place in Oregon ($95 a square yard) and had the inserts installed. Amazingly the vinyl did not tear and the insert looks like brand new. The back seat I did not touch it has faded a little but not that bad. Besides the new paint I had a new A/C put in the car. I bought new Corvette Rally wheels and new tires (driven less than 1,000 miles since 2010). I added new chrome around the wheel wells and new chrome rocker panels. I have done a few other things to the car I am sure, but nothing comes to mind right now. You could drive this car every day or only to car shows if you so desire. Try to find another 1970 that has been in the same family since new (let me know if you find even 1). This would be a great car to convert to a SS if so desired. I am only selling the car because I hate to see it just sit all the time. Just understand I don’t have to sell it but I am willing to sell it for a fair price. I am also going to reserve the right to sell the car locally. Buyer is responsible for shipping and I will not ship until the money is verified legitimate and in my account. I will not sell outside the United States or to persons with negative feedback.I had a potential buyer ask me to prove there is no rust so I took pictures of the undercarriage at my tire dealership (put car on lift). I did not see any rust, neither did the tire place employee and I took a few pictures of the underside. The only rust was the tailpipes which is to be expected (I thought everybody would know this). THERE IS NO RUST ON THE BODY OR UNDERCARRIAGE. I just want to be as honest as I possibly can about this item. Thanks.
