1972 TRIUMPH BONNEVILLE This Bonneville came from a recent estate sale. The bike had been sitting for many years. How many is unknown but a little research into the tire dates has me believing the rear tire is from 2000. So my guess by condition and tire date that it was last ran in 2000 until now. The bike was stored in some sort of climate controlled area because the tires have no rot and the chrome is in excellent condition. This bike started out as a 1972 650 5-speed Bonneville. Someone along the way turned it into a 70's chopper. The forks are about 4-6" over, the tank is a fiberglass peanut tank, the frame has been customized to accommodate the tank and lower the seat height. The rear wheel is a 16" Harley wheel. The paint is not in good shape. I repainted the tank with spray can and rubbed it out just so it looks respectable. As stated before the chrome is in very good condition. The electronics all work. It has a Mighty Max battery eliminator. The coils appear to be newer and the wiring is in excellent shape. The headlight hi/lo works. The running light and brake light works as well as the horn. It still has the original Amal's, Lucas headlight and Smiths tach and speedo. The dummy lights do not work as they are not hooked up. The bike did not take much to get running. All I did was clean the carbs, changed the fluids and installed new plugs while also cleaning the points. I kicked it over a few times to free up the clutch plates and then attempted to start her. 5-10 kicks later she fired up. When cold it takes about 2-3 attempts and will fire and idle with no problem. It doesn't smoke at all and the only leak is a little from the primary drain plug. The bike has been on a reliability run and the clutch, motor, transmission and brakes all work and sound as they should.
