Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1969 Mustang GT fastback. I personally, rotisserie restored this car from top to bottom myself. I purchased this car more than 10 years ago. It was advertised as a Mach 1, I had no idea it was a GT until I sent away for the Marti report. The guy I got it from took the car apart in the 80"s to do his (probably very poor) version of a restoration with a buddy of his. As with most people who have no idea what they are doing, he took the car way to far apart, and his friend (who pretended he knew what he was doing, but more than likely, he really didn't) stopped showing up to help and the project became a big pile of useless junk that he just wanted to get out of his barn. I bought the car, took it to my shop and started the restoration right away. Well, after working a full time job, buying a house, having 2 kids and everything that comes with that, my time for restoring was a lot less, so I had to pick away at this one when I had some free time over the last 10 years. I guess thats enough of the cars back story. As for the restoration. The car was media blasted completely to remove the 2 orange paint jobs, the 1 red paint job, the 1 white paint job, the 1 black paint job and lets not forget the silver jade factory paint. Then any and all rust was removed and all repairs were made. The car is painted in Dupont / Standox basecoat clearcoat urethane primers, basecoat and clearcoat. AS you can see the car is completely detailed in every way from the inside to the outside, from the underside, to the engine bay. The engine is a 351C, not the original motor. The transmission is a toploader 3 speed manual, not the original transmission. This car began life as a 351W with an FMX automatic. Both of those were long gone when I got this car. However, both the 351C and the toploader are rebuilt and run and drive great. The motor has a performance cam shaft in it so it has a pretty mean sound to it when it idles. As for the 3 speed....it's a blast to drive. Think of it as an automatic that you get to shift, as far as I am concerned, a muscle car should be a stick ......even if it is a 3 speed. All the chrome is new. All the suspension is new, except for the rear leafs ( I put new leafs in the rear and I was unhappy with the ride hight so I sandblasted the originals and painted them and put them back in with new bushings). The power steering components are all rebuilt. The original rear axle was disassembled and new bearings and seals were done all around. Every brake component was replaced or rebuilt. All the weatherstripping is new. Every rubber stop, bumper, grommet, or plug is new. The tires are new. The windshield is new but the rest of the glass is original with tipical signs of wear and tear on it. All of the original stainless trim was polished and re assembled. The interior is completely new from top to bottom including but not limited to the carpet and underlayment and sound deadening, the seats, the door panels, the headiner and insulation, the firewall insulation, the steering wheel and the pedal pads, the dash pad. Trust me when I say, when you open the door to the car it smells like a brand new car inside. Even the original clock in the dash works!! The original working AM radio is still in the dash. Everything on this car works as it should, the lights, the interior lights, the dash instruments, the horns, the windows...everything! Look at the pictures well,... you can see the painstaking detail that was taken on this car to make it look better than it did when it was made. This is not the tipical car on ebay that someone claims to be 100% restored and when you look in the engine bay or the underside of the car or the door jambs there is another corner cut to half ass the job. All my photos show my commitment to doing a quality job. I am sure I am forgetting something so please....don't hesitate to ask me a question if you have one. I can take a picture of any area on the can upon request and e-mail it . I would prefer to be paid for this car in cash,or bank wire transfer so please let me know if you have another method of payment in mind before bidding. Vehicle does not leave my possesion until payment is made in full. Bank transfers must be 100% cleared before pickup. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
