Vehicle Detail
Let me start by saying you MUST click on the link below to my photo bucket, I have over 120 high quality/resolution pictures which will show this car in detail so you will know exactly what you will be bidding on and getting if you win the auction. You are looking at one of the rarest 2nd gen Camaro’s ever made back in 1979. This car is 1of 3800 Green exterior code 44 and 1 of 850 Green interior code 44, not to mention that it is a factory four-speed car as I have 2- partial build sheets to prove it. Here is the story on the car, I bought it last fall from the second owner who parked it in the barn/shed after it overheated sometime around 1992 (he thinks however can’t remember it has been so long) with the odometer reading 51,120 miles. His son pulled it out of storage last summer, re-built the heads, put a stock 350 cam/lifters, installed a factory 80’s GM alumnuium intake, a new Edelbrock 750 Carburetor, aftermarket radiator, new clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and a new set of tires. He drove the car for a few hundred miles and then he decided he wanted a newer Camaro. I new this car was special so I bought it with every intension to restore, but I have acquired a few other cars over the long, very long winter months and have since decided that I do not have the time to restore all of them, not to mention that I am running out of space. The car was not running very well when I picked it up/drove it onto my trailer last October only to find out that he never changed the plug wires, plugs, distributor cap, rotor and of course the gas. I had the original carb rebuilt and installed because the new carb was too big for the motor (dumping to much gas down the intake), put new gas into the tank, re-set the valves and timing. The exhaust on the car is in ‘ok’ condition, no rust holes, just a small leak on the passengers side flange to manifold leak that is a little annoying. I took the car out for a ride, I found out in a short distance a very fun, snappy car to drive, yes it does have positraction, shifts very, very smooth in all gears up/down with no grinding, handles well (does not sway or wonder at 55mph) all of the lights/turn signals, wipers, fan motor, dash tach, volt meter, gas gauge work as they should, the radio looks as if it work, but the rear speakers as missing. It has an aftermarket oil pressure gauge mounted under the dash, which shows very good oil pressure, about 40psi idling. From what I can tell, the car does not have the original motor in it, it has the block casting number 3970010 (350 block) dated C10 and the pad on front of the block reads V0421CKH, which shows it is for 72-74 and 76-77 Camaro, Chevelle, Monte Carlo 350CI and 175HP. I also looked underneath at the transmission and found out that it is a Borg Warner Super T-10 (aluminum case), but I never looked at the date code to see if it was the original transmission. The car is missing the fan shroud, AC compressor/brackets, console lid door and spare tire jack. This is what I think the car needs for sheet metal….however everyone and every body man has their own opinion, front driver’s side floor pan (it has about a 7’ diameter hole in it now), a small patch in the trunk along the frame rail where the rubber seal leaked, maybe a driver’s side fender or a patch panel and both dog legs-patch panels, no need to put new quarters on the car as they are straight as a arrow and all original to the car. Underneath the car you will find a nice clean front sub frame, the rear frame rails are also clean with NO rust hole or damage of any kind. All of the wheel houses are clean with no rust holes as are all of the floorboards with the exception of the drives side front. In and under the engine bay you will find no oil or coolant leaks, I did find a drop or two from the rear of the transmission and see that it is the tail shaft seal, which cost about $4.00 with an hour of labor at most. The interior will need new front seat covers, carpeting, headliner re-glued and door sill plates. The dash pad is absolutely perfect….I mean perfect with NO cracks, separations, wrapping or fading because it had a carpet dash protector on it, the console is not in the best shape as it has some cracks and holes in the very front for speakers. This very same car is for sale locally, so I may end the auction at any given time with out notice! To sum it all up: this is a very nice running, clean second generation Camaro with one of the best and rarest color combinations ever made. It is a driver (get in and go) that looks awesome and just like any old car… It needs some tender loving care to bring it back to show quality. Bid to win, as these cars are sky rocketing in value and starting to get out of control upwards of 25k plus! I am sure I forgot something to tell you about the car, however if you would like more or any specific pictures, please ask, I can also send you my phone number if you would like and you can view this car in person by appointment only.
