1972 Datsun 240Z built to original SCCA GT2 specs in the early 80′s. 2100 lbs wet with 272 RWHP = FUN! Purchased as a roller in 2000 it was then completely rebuilt by Balanced Performance Motorsports. Highlights:The car runs an Sunbelt Racing built 280Z engine stroked to 2.9 liters, with an updated ITB injection system and stand alone EMS to 272 horsepower at the rear wheels. The stroked Datsun straight six has Carrillo rods, custom JE pistons, a one-off cam grind and Accusump oil pressure accumulator along with many more details. Transmission:Transmission / Differential: Saenz 5 speed, close ratio, road race transmission with straight cut gears and 5 ¼” Quartermaster twin disc clutch. LSD Differential Suspension: Based on modified, fully adjustable 280Z coil over struts with custom valved Bilsteins and custom sway bars .Brakes are large 4 wheel AP discs, manually adjustable bias. Tilton master cylinders and pedal assembly. Body & Interior:The fiberglass wide body sits atop a custom strengthened, lightened factory tub with tube sub frames. Smokey Yunick built cage with full gauges , fire bottle and more. The body molds are also included in sale. This Z looks awesome from every angle in the red & white color scheme. The fiberglass body is in decent shape with no stress cracking or other damage. The paint is above race car quality standards. This Z not only looks good but it screams. Driven by a middle aged old guy driver to many podiums and wins. If you cant get a top 3 in this car you suck:). HSR SCCA NASA + eligible. Race and compete at your favorite venue or terrorize your friends at your local track day. More Specific Details:Engine: Stroked 2.9 liter built by Sunbelt racing Engines.Slover head with custom grind cam. Carillo Rods and custom JE pistons modeled to improve on original Cosworth pistons acquired with car. Block de-burred and treated. 14:1 compression ratio tuned to run on VP 103 race fuel. Fuel and Induction converted to individual TWM fuel injected throttle bodies. Controlled by stand-alone DTA electronic engine management system. Engine protected by Accusump oiling system. Last Dyno session yielded 272.9 RWHP. Transmission / Differential: Saenz 5 speed, close ratio, road race transmission with straight cut gears and 5 ¼” Quartermaster twin disc clutch. 5th gear is 1.0:1 and final drive is 3.7:1 with NISMO limited slip. External transmission cooler ducted, with Tilton pump and monitored with transmission oil temp gauge. All new gears and bearings. Redline shockproof gear oil in transmission and differential Tube frame tub design with lightened tub. Fully gusseted and cross braced cage built by Smokey Yunick as stated by previous owner. (Car has Daytona Log Book) Fresh roll bar padding. 10 lb Halon fire system with 3 nozzles. 16 gallon Fuelsafe fuel cell w/ new foam. Momo racing seat with G-Force 5 point camlock harness. Scroth driver restraint net. The cockpit features a roll cage built by Smokey Yunick ( according to prior owner unfortunately no documentation) , custom sheet metal dash with large tach dead-ahead, and oil pressure/temperature, water temp, trans temp and fuel pressure gauges with color-coded warning lights . Features include a 10 pound Halon fire suppression system, helmet cooler and provisions for a cool suit. Brakes and Suspension: 4 wheel AP Disc Bakes with Hawk Blue pads and Tilton cockpit bias control. New master cylinders and calipers rebuilt with 3 race events on new rotors and bearings. Bilstein custom valved shocks controlling tuned coil over 280Z struts with fully adjustable anti-roll bars and adjustable end links. Car aligned and corner weighted for Road Atlanta and similar tracks. Wheel / Tires: 16X10 and 16X12 American Racing Wheels mounted w/ 16X 22.5 and 16X25 Goodyear slicks.
