Vehicle Detail

0 0 1 433 2472 EA 20 5 2900 14.0 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Up for auction is a real 1968 original motor 427/390HP, Silverstone Silver over Black Standard interior. I found this big block coupe back in January in the same garage that it had resided since June 30th, 1975. I purchased the Corvette from the second owner who acquired the car as a 40th birthday present. The car is as it was in 1975 including the original motor and the darker silver stripes over the wheel wells, hood and rear end. The second owner rebuilt the original 427/390HP motor, careful not to deck the block and disturb the original engine stamp, nearly ten years ago. He reinstalled the engine with break in miles only and proceeded to drop the dash due to a wiring issue and never completed the reassembly. I had a correct dash harness and power window harness installed, drained the fuel tank, changed all of the fluids, installed a working carburetor, a new Delco battery, replaced two leaky calipers, and put the car back together. The car now starts, runs, shifts, and drives good. The more that it is driven the better it runs. The speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure and water gauges work without incident. The vacuum controlled headlights and wiper door also work flawlessly. The power windows go up and down with ease. The original key buzzer even still works. This is a pretty high option car including the following: L36 427/390HP motor, 4 speed transmission, positraction rear end, unsure of the ratio, power steering, power brakes, power windows, tele column, and AM/FM radio. It is finished in code 986 Silverstone Silver, one of 3,455 produced, over Black Standard interior. The paint is old and tired with many scratches and imperfections. It appears to have been repainted, at least the front clip, prior to 1975. There is evidence of reddish orange paint under the clip. However, it is definitely an original Corvette clip. The rest of the paint may be original. I am far from an expert and unsure. To take it to the next level it would need paint. The interior, engine compartment, and undercarriage are pretty original and undisturbed. The underside is solid due to proper storage over the last 40 years. The original jack and lug wrench, the original GM T Top bags, the original 1968 Corvette Owners Manual, and a copy of the 1975 title are with the car. Overall this is a complete, low ownership, Original motor, 77,997 original mile, high optioned Big Block Corvette Coupe finished in a desirable color combination. Drive it and enjoy it as is, or take it to the next level. It is a tough car to replace. Inspections are welcomed and encouraged. This two owner Corvette is located in my climate controlled building in St. Charles, forty miles west of Chicago. I have a clean Illinois title in my name. Feel free to email me or call me at 630-917-0639 with any questions. I am happy to assist both local and overseas bidders with shipping needs. Good luck!
