Vehicle Detail
I bought this car in 2002 as a toy and project car. I got it running then relatively easily and it worked so well, I never started the "project" part. After driving for around 5 years, I finally blew the motor. I intended then to find another motor, make up a turbo kit, and finish my project. Instead I found a motor, bought turbo components, and had a family. The car has been in storage (inside an enclosed barn) for 5-6 years now, untouched. Its time to sell it, and all my spare parts. Here is the best, most thorough description I can give. Engines- The engine in the vehicle was fully functional with 130k miles on it when I blew the rear rotor apex seal. Fuel injection, ignition, air conditioning should all still be good. Clutch and transmission are fine. Motor #2 has good compression (or did when I stored it) and only around 75k miles on it. It also has a good clutch and transmission. Motor swap with two guys and a cherry picker is about 4 hours. The motor is small and everything is easy to get to. (I've only pulled two rx7 motors in my day, and it still didn't take me long either time) Body- As I described in the condition section, the body is good other than paint and rust on the rear fender wells. Left side fender well has surface rust, right side has deeper rust, but not all the way through. Lower chin spoiler has a crack. Roof of car has faded, no rust. Paint chips on hood, but again, no rust. Right side has a couple of door dings, plus a scrape in the rubber trip. Driver side door is missing rubber trim. No crash damage on the vehicle that I can find from previous owner, and I never crashed it. Paint has small chips and small scratches throughout, but most are small enough to not show well in pictures. Interior- The interior is pretty good for the year. Driver side seat shows wear from getting in and out, and has a small hole in the seat bottom. Passenger seat is pretty nice, actually. Carpeting is pretty good, with some staining. Dash is intact and clean, and all switches worked when car was stored. There is a small hole drilled in the dash from an alarm system light that is now gone. Also, all speakers have been pulled, but the car is still wired for 2 amps should you want to put a system in. CD player is missing face (I lost it, sorry). Dash gauges are whited faced insets that glow blue. Rear hatch area is clean, and carpeting is still nice. Rear hatch opens well with hydraulics and stays open until you shut it. Door panels on both sides are in very good shape. Door locks and windows are manual, but they all work well. Interior overall is pretty nice for a car of its age. Mods and spares- On the vehicle I have done a few changes. It came with a limited slip differential, but small brakes and 4 lug wheels. I replaced the hub assemblies with the 5 lug bigger brake from a turbo II model. I installed Konig wheels with Sumitomo summer tires, which have less than 10k miles on them. (I have $900 in the wheels and tires alone) It has Koni rear struts. I did the air pump delete, twin belt mod. Spares in a box include most every switch from the interior of an rx7, rear hatch hydraulics, headlight motors, ignition coils, the original 4 lug brakes and Mazda original aluminum wheels and spare. (4 nearly new Michelin tires on them) NACA duct and hoses to make a true cold air intake from the right indicator light through bumper wall and into airbox. I also have Hawk performance pads for the brakes laying in a box. I also have a stock rear spoiler from an rx7 that I never put on. This car is a great project car, either as an easy engine swap and drive or full mod. The chassis is in pretty good shape, and the small stuff is intact. I have tried to describe the car as carefully as I can, and between the description of the car and the pics it should be clear what shape the car is in. If you have any questions about it at all, contact me, I will be happy to answer. Because I do this, please know that I will accept only the amount that you bid as payment. I will not "come down" after you come see it. I will get you all the pictures you can want, and I will answer every question I can, so as to help you bid comfortably, but the winning bid is the final price. Thanks and happy bidding
