Vehicle Detail
2005 Smart CDI Fortwo Passion with 74,026 miles. This is a Canadian import and has a clear Arkansas title. I purchased the car from Rob Wynn, who imports and sells regularly here on e-bay. The car had a diesel leak at the time of delivery, as the high pressure fuel pump was leaking. I personally replaced the high pressure fuel pump with a rebuilt pump provided by Mr. Wynn, but the leak is even worse now. I have lost all patience with this car and don't want to spend another dollar on it. I was getting over 50 mpg around town with the diesel leak before replacing the pump. The car starts and can be driven, but the leak is pretty bad and I do not recommend the car be driven any distance until the leak is fixed. It could be something simple, but it will need to be fixed. The car should be moved on a trailer. I would note that the car was driven from New York, to Ohio, then on to Arkansas. It drove very well. You have done 110 kph on the highway and taken my hands off the wheel. It did not pull, braked well, and seemed to be very stable. I have a friend that is 6'2" and he had plenty of leg and headroom when he rode in the car. However, when he slid the passenger seat back hard, the airbag light came on and has been on ever since. I read that there was a problem with the airbag connectors under the seat and that the dealer would remove the plugs and solder the wires together at no charge. I have not asked my Mercedes dealer about doing this. I am unable to work on this car myself and I don't want to put any more money into it. I put a cold air scoop on the side and purchased a tuning box from Pro-Bitz. I've hear reports of fuel mileage over 70 miles per gallon with this setup. After buying this my friend sold me his E320 CDI that is in perfect condition and I have lost complete interest in this Smart car. If you know diesels and are mechanically inclined, this will be a great buy. The transmission shifts perfectly and it is the six speed transmission. Has auto locking doors, power windows, air conditioning and heat, all worked well. Has a glass roof with a sliding sunshade. The windows are lightly tinted. Front tires look very good and the back should probably be replaced within the next few thousand miles. I drove this car in the winter and it did very well in the snow. The engine and transmission are right over the drive wheels. I did not wash the car for the pictures. It is a good looking car with no body damage. I have both keys, all books, and the tuning box that will go with the car. I had it completely serviced at our independent Mercedes Mechanic when I first got the car last November. If you want one of these, nows your chance. I expect to lose money on this transaction, as I refuse to advertise it as a perfect car. It is from Canada, so there are signs of rust from beneath the car, which can't be seen unless you are under the car. If you have any questions, please e-mail me before bidding. I have represented the car accurately. On Apr-13-14 at 14:03:49 PDT, seller added the following information: I was cleaning my garage today and found a green colored hose clamp from the Smart. My thinking is that green signifies diesel, but I don't know this for a fact. So the car is missing a green hose clamp from somewhere. The leak repair could be as easy as replacing that clamp. As previously stated, I've purchased a diesel Mercedes and have pretty much lost interest in the Smart. Also, several people have been bidding with 0 feedback, and I have had one person ask me about delivering the car to Belarus. If you have 0 feedback, I would kindly ask that you send me a message before bidding, as I reserve the right to cancel your bid if you don't contact me first. Also, shipping and delivery are the buyers responsibility. I will not deliver this car. It can be started and driven onto a trailer and I don't mind helping with this.On Apr-14-14 at 18:54:51 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone asked about the clamp that I left off, so I've attached two photos of it. If the weather warms up and I'm feeling up to it, I may see if I can figure out where it came off. The engine compartment in this thing is very small and I am not very limber.
