Vehicle Detail

1967 Ford Galaxie 500XL convertible with 390-4V / C6 and 4-wheel disc brakes Summary This is a great looking, FE-powered full-size convertible cruiser with great Ford styling. The long body panels are nice and straight and the paint color is Wimbledon White. With just a few exceptions this Galaxie 500XL is almost entirely stock and which I believe still has the original 390 engine and C6 transmission. It's an original bucket seat car with center console. I don't know if the vinyl upholstery is original, it seems too good to be 47 years old. The dash pad looks original and is not cracked. The chrome dash knobs are nice and shiny and not pitted. The AM/FM radio is original and still works to some degree. The black convertible top is clean with no rips and the lift mechanism works correctly (see video below). Upgrades and changes from stock: - The previous owner swapped out the drum brakes and replaced them with power disc brakes all around. This is a big deal on a full-size. He also added the engine dress-up kit and the Cragar S/S wheels and replaced the carpet. I bought the car from him in 2011. - For my part, I replaced the original Carter carb with an Edelbrock Performer 1406, but aside from that I've mostly just kept it waxed and shiny. I've done some long-distance drives with it and it's really at home doing 60 or 70 on a quiet country highway, but for the most part I just use it for local cruising. It's not a daily driver. I probably put less than 500 miles on it in the last year, and never in the rain. Vehicle Condition Rating: I looked at Hemming's ratings guide to get an idea of how best to describe my Galaxie. You can see from the pictures that the chrome is in great condition and the paint shines up great but it's an older paint job and along the way it's gotten some chips in the paint and those have been touched up. The panels are very straight and the car feels very solid. I didn't notice much in the way of rust since the paint looks good and there's a lot of undercoating on this car, but I won't rule it out. I haven't spent much time underneath the car. The engine runs good, particularly on the highway, and with the new carb it starts easily, though I think the idle could be tuned some (I only know how to bolt them on, not how to adjust them). So with that and the aftermarket wheels I would say my car is maybe not a full-fledged Condition 3, but better than a Condition 4, and so the reserve price is appropriate to that. Door Tag Vin Prefix: 7W59H Body: 76B (Convertible) Color: 8 Trim: 8A Date: 11E DSO: B1 Axle: 8 Trans: U (C6) I may offer this vehicle locally as well so I reserve the right to cancel this auction early. Here are some shots of the rear quarters from inside the trunk... I also pulled this from Hagerty's price guide tool this morning. Again, I feel that my car is better than Condition 4, but they put the bar pretty high for Condition 3 and since my car has a few flaws and a few changes from original, I like to think of it as a 3.5. On Apr-12-14 at 11:33:54 PDT, seller added the following information: Here's a closeup of the center console warning pod. These aren't switches, they're just seat belt and door ajar warning lamps. The outer "buttons" are just decoration.
