Custom tables and Seats The truck is actually 8ft wide by 26' long Pristine example of vintage American “Bookmobile”. Lovingly and professionally converted into one of the nicest and most unique Tailgaters/Limo/RVs/Party vehicles you’ll ever see! Rust and damage free Gerstenslager (Wooster, Ohio) Classic Bookmobile body. http://www.coachbuilt.com/bui/g/gerstenslager/gerstenslager.htm Exterior almost completely original except for added windows, paint, speakers and lighting. Dry, solid and RUST FREE body on a 1980 Chevrolet C60 School Bus Chassis (yes, I know it looks like a pre-1973 truck. Chevrolet retained the 1968-72 C-series front-ends on school bus chassis’ through 1980. Most people think she’s a much older truck, so it adds to her charm I think). This vehicle has been GARAGED while not in use all its’ life. Looks old, but runs & drives almost like new!!! Extraordinary rust-free condition. True vintage American iron. Very “old school” materials and “throw-back” craftsmanship and design. Impeccably stored, maintained and pampered all it’s life. Less than 120k miles on truck. Professionally remanufactured engine just installed (less than 1000 miles). Small block heavy duty truck engine (gas). “Bulletproof” ALLISON 545 automatic transmission. Power steering and brakes. Truck has been diligently maintained it’s entire life. Bearings, shocks, springs, kingpins, brakes, seals, etc….replaced as needed. Oil changes, lube, filters, adjustments and regular maintenance performed like clockwork! She runs, drives, shifts and stops just as she should. You will be amazed at the condition of this old truck! I am the third owner and bought her from Anniston-Calhoun County Alabama Public Library where she served only a couple of days a week with distinction for almost 30 years. I was told she was decommissioned only because they won a grant for a new one. “Gertie” was “one of the family” and was treated as such, including her own garage! Since retiring from public service the truck has been lovingly and professionally converted to, well, I don’t know exactly what to call it. Built for family and friends sightseeing, partying, tailgating etc., it’s a fantastic game or race day tailgating vehicle. We’ve also parked her in the middle of festivals and holiday celebrations, car and motorcycle shows, and other outdoor events for our own personal lounge and gathering spot. It’s a great place for wife, kids, grandkids and tired friends to relax while checking out carshows, festivals and swapmeets. She is so retro looking, interesting and well-done that she’s never been turned away and has been the hit of many “car” shows. She’s been invited for display (and loaned for use) at civic and non-profit events. The interior is in like-new condition, so her uses and enjoyments are still to be explored! Interior; an upscale 40’s-50’s retro look with a bookmobile/library tribute in mind. Booth and swivel seating. Durable and washable surfaces, marine type upholstery and carpet is great for kids (or sloppy adults). Stainless steel look (brushed anodized aluminum) throughout. Wood trim, shelves and mouldings are all made from the original book shelves. On-board ONAN 7 KW (gas) Generator works great. Bar with draft beer dispenser (never used) and refrigerator. Popcorn machine, cup dispenser, and all sorts of finishing touches and cool features. Cabinets, retro lighting (12 & 110volt), courtesy lighting, retractable steps (original), restroom with retro lighting, hand basin, towel dispenser, exhaust fan, etc. All modern RV holding tank, plumbing, etc. works flawlessly. BUT WAIT, there’s more! Flat panel TV/DVD/Surround Sound. Am/FM/CD Inside & Outside. Wired for cable and/or satellite. Kingdome VUECUBE portable satellite antenna included (use your receiver). Central Heat & Air. Seating for 8, seatbelts for 5 with plenty of room to move around. Backup camera. Hidden fold down bed. Overhead fluorescent lights. Overhead jalousie windows. Built-in cupholders everywhere. Interesting and decorative books and bookmobile paraphernalia. Extra sound-proofing and insulation. New (less than 2500 miles) radial tires & steel wheels with stainless simulators (had the old split-rim type, which I kept if you want them). Vast paperwork (including original sales correspondence, blueprints, sales brochures, owners manuals, title, original, in-service and remodeling photos) and maintenance records available.
