Vehicle Detail
Due to the high volume of responses I've received in terms of "creatively" purchasing this car, I was forced to take it down, make some clarifications and then re-list it. PLEASE READ ALL THE DETAILS OF THIS AUCTION. UNDERSTAND I WILL NOT BE NEGOTIATING OUTSIDE THE BOUNDARIES OF THIS AUCTION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. PLEASE DON'T ASK If you've arrived at this beautiful, rare, cherry, you, no doubt, already have an understanding about these cars. The ONLY reason I'm even entertaining the idea of selling this car is because I will be buying an electric car. If I don't get my minimum offer of $9k, I will just drive this car for the next 20 years. This car actually gets better gas mileage than the Volt I'm going to buy, but I need the tax write-off and I'd like to ride in that carpool lane. Yep, I'm an idiot, go ahead and take advantage of my impulsiveness. I am the second owner. I bought it at 40k from Wildrose motors; the famous TDI mechanic. It originally came from Texas. The timing belt was just done; it has a new battery. The other battery was totally fine and my mechanic didn't want to install a new one, but I'm kind a stickler for keeping the car in tip-top condition. Air cond blows cold. The car has been so meticulously cared for. Up until 2 months ago, it was garaged AND covered, no rust whatsoever. I just sold my '98 TDI and the buyer had to pry it from a very strong hold. I surrendered that car with tears of love streaming down my face. I have no doubt I will feel the same about this car. If that seems a bit outrageous, you've probably never owned one of these. But here's your golden opportunity. This car has a Puma Diesel engine from Germany. Since it is a manual 5 speed transmission, it gets even better gas mileage than the automatics. I have kept track of every drop of gas I put in her, and she gets average 40 city and highway combined. Up until July, I only drover her as a 'Sunday' car, but I've been commuting with the car since July. The commute is an equal highway and city driving about 24 miles round trip. As noted in the vehicle report, the car was in a 'fender-bender'. The damage cost less than $400 for me to fix; however, it left a slight gap in the hood closure. This has had absolutely no effect on how the car runs or drive, but if this is something of concern, please don't bid. If you're the winning bidder, please understand this is the selling price of the car; I will not negotiate a lower price upon pick-up. Although I will provide any assistance I can, please note, I have absolutely no idea how to ship a car, so in this regard, you are on your own. If you were considering buying a new VW diesel, this is your chance to save about $20k, which will provide gas for the next 20 years (based on today's going rate). I get 500 miles per tank. It passes smog with flying colors and the tires have only 5000 miles. At the writing of this description, the odometer is accurate. But understand I will be driving it to work, while it is listed, which will add approximately 150-200 miles to the reading. I can say with utmost conviction and confidence this is easily the most reliable car available on ebay for the price. Whew. . . that's all I can write for now, but I realize I may have left somethings out, so PLEASE ask questions if there is anything I have overlooked. I have three of the four original hubcaps. I took those three off and for regular driving, and have generics. The originals are off so I don't lose any more, but they come with the car, of course. The dashboard has never seen sun, since I've owned the car. the back seats have never been sat in; however, there is a water stain on one (I'm not sure how it got there). I put the headrests on for the photo; other than that they have not been used. the The cargo cover also comes with it and it is in good working order. The 12v connector in front does not work. I was told it is a fuse, but I have no idea; I don't use it. The back one works fine. The sound system is original: the radio, CD and Cassette (yes, cassette deck) work great. I have all the original manuals. The car may need windshield wiper blades Thanks for looking SPECIFIC PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS PLEASE READ. The successful winner of this auction must deposit a non-refundable $2k in my paypal account within 24 hours of the end of the auction; Otherwise the car will be re-listed. After deposit payment is made, I will take the sheepskin covers off the seats photograph them and if you have any reservations about buying the car based on the seat or steering wheel cond. I will gladly refund your money; however, I will NOT negotiate the price under any circumstances. Instead I will re-list the car. Full payment is due within 5 business days. Send me a cashier's check, money order or personal check with a tracking number, once payment has cleared, you may take delivery of the vehicle. The vehicle will not be surrendered under any circumstances until final payment is cleared. Once payment has cleared, I will be more than happy to deliver the vehicle, within 100 miles, pick you up at the airport, hold the vehicle and mail you the bill of sale, or assist in way I can in terms of shipping. BUT ONLY AFTER PAYMENT IS RECEIVED, NO EXCEPTIONS. Originally I was entertaining the idea of exchanging cash at time of delivery, but I think that idea feels a bit risky for both parties concerned. I will not compromise on this issue, so if you do not agree, please don't bid; I respect your choice. I will not exchange personal contact information with anyone but the winning bidder. I had many people emailing me with their phone number in order to negotiate outside the boundaries of this ebay auction. That is a violation of the ebay rules. There isn't any question I cannot answer via email and there is no reason for me to publicize my phone number or address. I am not a dealer. Please understand this is a transparent auction: any questions asked will be posted and answered, including phone numbers and offers. Here are some FAQ I had about the auction, so please read as they may help with your decision making process: Is the title clear and are there any loans or liens on the vehicle? The title of this car is clean. There are no liens or loans that need to be satisfied. This is in the car report. The "fender-bender" I had with the vehicle does not look like it was listed in the car report; however, I feel much better being straight forward about this. Please see pictures. It's very hard to detect, but the hood has a slight gap that has never changed the mechanical "drivability" of the car. But I want to make sure nothing is left out. Can I come and inspect the car and test drive it before I bid? No, sorry. I have included two videos and a max amount of pictures, car report and info about the car. The main reason I have the car on ebay, as opposed to craigslist or Auto Trader is I do not want to wait for people to show up, start dismantling my car and begin lowballing me with offers; I also don't want the liability of having someone test drive it. If this is something of concern to you, please don't bid. I totally respect and understand your position. Can you remove the seat covers and photograph the seats? Absolutely, after I receive a deposit from the winning bidder, I will gladly give detailed pictures of the seat and if for any reason, they are not in prime quality, I will gladly refund your deposit, with the understanding that I will NOT negotiate a price lower price and the new owner will be responsible for putting the covers back on the seats. These are custom seat covers and they are really a bear to get on and off. If this is a concern to you, please don't bid. I have been active on ebay for over 12 years. I worked very hard to maintain 100% positive feedback. The reason I've achieved such a stellar standing is I believe in honesty. I'm not a mechanic. I cannot give you details on the syesthisic adhesion of a head gasket (whatever that is). I can only tell you I've maintained this car to the best of my ability and I've described it to the best of my ability. The reputation of this engine and car in general speaks for itself. Do the research for yourself. These beauties rarely come on ebay with such low mileage, manual transmission, station wagon, red color and clear title. I am now re-listing the vehicle with more options for the buyer. I was bombarded with offers higher than the minimum bid I placed on it originally. So keep in mind, if you do make an offer on the car, I will not entertain anything under 9k. I very much appreciate your interest in my car and I apologize if the guidelines I have are outside the scope of your personal bidding preferences. Even though I have tried to be as thorough as possible, I'm only human and I may have left something out, so I strongly encourage questions. Again, I will not give my phone number or address to anyone but the auction winner. And I will not allow inspection or test driving of the vehicle without payment. Sorry for any inconvenience.
