Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This auction is for a very nice example of a totally rust free, very original MG Midget. It has original paint and retains the factory interior. This car is a completely unmolested California car. The car has always been garaged; never saw bad weather as the owner always had another car as his daily driver. The mileage is unknown as the speedo does not work but from looking at the general condition of the car I doubt it has done over 100k The engine number is FP59772UCF and is believed to be the original unit. The paint is in decent condition for it age having a decent shine and a few small chips around the need touching up. The driver’s door seems to have been repainted at some time as the paint is a bit flat and could do with buffing out. Just in front of the drivers door there is a scratch in the paint. The doors open and close nicely, the windows wind up and down although the drivers side is quite stiff near the top of it travel. The door gaps are very good and the trunk lid is not cracked as many are found to be. There is a nice luggage rack fitted, that is in very good condition The dash has a small crack in the top which could be easily covered. The chrome is original but nice overall. The convertible top is in decent condition, the rear windows have been replaced and it has also been patched but it is quite functional. This car starts great from cold even if left for weeks, it always fires up easily. It has plenty of power and very good oil pressure, the engine sounds very healthy, there is no sign of smoke from the exhaust and it does not “run on” when turned off. The idle seems a bit high as though the auto choke is sticking a little, very common on these cars. The car shows no sign of overheating. There has been a very worthwhile addition of a temperature and oil pressure gauge in the center console, something these cars always lacked. The clutch feels smooth in operation and the transmission moves through the gears without any fuss. There is some bearing noise in 1st thru 3rd and reverse growls a bit but it does not jump out of gear or grind going in. On the road it runs smooth and has very good manners. The steering, crisp and sharp, the ride firm yet forgiving and the handling is good. The brakes feel good and it pulls up straight. The parking brake holds well, although it comes up a long way, could do with adjustment. The gauges all work (except for the speedo) and most of the electrical equipment, lights indicators wipers etc. all seem to function well, the hazards, heater fan, and washers do not. The interior is complete and generally very good. There is a fire extinguisher mounted in the passenger side floor well – just in case! The seats are original and are not torn or cracked. It has a good spare wheel in the trunk. The car sits on a set of older tyres, having decent tread but the sidewalls show some cracks. The older radio looks ugly but works well. The bonnet pull requires pliers as the handle is broken and it is stiff to pull. Under the car believe it or not there does not seem to be any leaks! The floors are perfect and even the front valence has not been beat up by concrete blocks in parking lots. It is a very straight car all round that does not look like it has ever been in any accidents. Front and back all the hardware is correct and there are no signs of any repairs. This car is not perfect but it is a good solid basis for a stunning restoration or as a tidy daily driver you can enjoy the fuel saving ability it gives. The car is being sold with completed lien sale paperwork. I have tried to describe this car as accurately as possible; I usually tend to be over critical in my descriptions so that when the car arrives the customer is happy. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. As always I would recommend driving and viewing the car if at all possible. Please call (310) 833 1525 for an appointment. Bid to buy with confidence, I have sold a lot of older British cars on e-bay with 100% feedback.
