Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my Honda CBR 1100XX which is otherwise known as the Super Blackbird. 2001 is the only year that Honda offered the Super Blackbirds in "Candy Glory Red". This example has been extensively tweaked for sport touring duty with the following upgrades: A) Corbin Gunfighter saddle. Exceptional comfort for all day riding. B) Corbin Beetle Bags - $1,800 when new and no longer made. Great quality, locking, waterproof bags that are very well integrated with the bike's style. C) Heli Bar handlebar risers - locates the handlebars higher and at a more comfortable position for all day touring. D) Throttlemeister Throttle Lock - Locks the throttle in place on the highway to give your hand a rest. Black finish with milled reliefs. E) Symtec Grip Heaters - Riding with warm hands makes all the difference in cool or cold weather. F) BMW Touring Grips - Comfortable, and fill your hand better than standard grips. G) Zero Gravity Touring Wide-screen - Extra wind protection for your torso without buffeting your helmet. H) K&N Air Filter - washable high performance air filter. I) Billet Aluminum Peg Lowering Blocks - Gives your knees a bit of relief on long rides. J) Honda Goldwing Foot Pegs - wider, more comfortable foot pegs than standard. K) Stebel Nautilus Air Horn - Installed professionally with a waterproof relay. 139 dB rating wakes up inattentive drivers like no other motorcycle horn.......it works! L) Fuzeblock Accessory Panel - neatly add powered accessories with a fused circuit. Outputs can be switched with the ignition, or left 'hot '. M) SoundOff Safety Priority Lites Plus - converts rear turn signals into running lights and flashing brake lights for extra safety. N) Clear AlternativeLens - clear front turn signal lenses with amber bubs for better brightness and clarity. The sale includes the OEM seat, owners manual, and toolkit. The OEM centerstand and adjustable brake and clutch levers are still installed. I do not have the OEM windscreen, clip-on's, footpegs, or front turn signal lenses. Approximately 8000 miles ago the bike received a valve inspection, and a new O-ring chain and sprockets (stock gearing). 6000 miles ago all new EBC HH brake pads were installed and the clutch fluid was flushed and replaced. Michelin Pilot Power tires were installed 3500 miles ago and still look like they have plenty of life left (I don’t punish my tires). At that time I also replaced the rear cush drive rubbers / dampers between the sprocket carrier and the hub (I figured it was a good time to do it and it did seem to make shifts more crisp). 2000 miles ago the cam chain tensioner lifter was replaced with the improved unit when it became noisy (which is a common item on Honda CBR motors). Over the winter I replaced the coolant with Pro Honda premix, and I changed the oil with Mobil One 10W40 Racing 4T. The motorcycle has always been run with synthetic motorcycle oil (either Pro Honda or Mobil One). It has not been raced, stunted, over-revved, etc and in fact the lowered pegs have never even been dragged during hard cornering. It runs with the OEM exhaust and the fuel injection has not been modified. The original owner was a responsible MSF instructor who owned it from 2001 until 2010. I bought it from the second owner, a 37 year old father of four who rides responsibly and safely. I am 60 years old, and very far from a racer wannabe. Comminuting to work in this area is suicidal, so I have only taken a handful of long distance tours over the summer. It is time for someone else to enjoy this incredible machine. The motorcycle currently has roughly 29,600 miles on it. Folks often say “That’s nothing for this motor” and in this case it’s completely true. The bike starts, idles, and accelerates like a new bike should. The smooth acceleration is absolutely amazing and cruising at highway speeds it is as smooth and as powerful as I imagine a turbine engine would run (there are no vibrations with this dual counterbalanced engine). Cosmetically the bike is extremely clean. There is no corrosion on any fasteners, the OEM exhaust still looks great, and the paint shines like new. However, the bike was knocked over from it's centerstand position while I was dining at a restaurant one day last summer, and the result is a dozen minor scratches on the right side fairing and turn signal housing, with the largest on the right side Corbin bag. There are no cracks to any parts, just scratches. I did try to capture them in the photos as best as I could. She is a Sport Tourer, not a show bike, so if you can live with these marks you will have one hell of a motorcycle. There are no surprises with this bike - I would ride it across the country at the drop of a hat. I’m only selling it because after putting a few hundred miles on a friends K1300GT, I am ready to go back to a 'less aggressive" style bike. I can’t justify owning two bikes at the moment otherwise I would keep this Blackbird. I feel I have it listed at a fair price point, as I genuinely believe the bike is very well set up for safe, high performance sport touring, and is worth the money. Let me know if you have any questions. I will consider reasonable offers. PayPal is fine for a $500 minimum deposit. Certified Bank check, electronic funds transfer or cash for the balance. Title is released when the check clears my bank. Any/all shipping is at the cost of the buyer. I have used several professional carries that I can recommend, if needed. This bike is sold as is, with no warranties. Please, serious offers only. If local, test drives only after you hand me $5000 cash. Thank you for your time and for your sensible consideration. Ride Safe!
