Vehicle Detail
I have owned this truck since 1981. I purchased it in Reno, Nevada and it was originally sold in Reno. I have used it for a daily driver, hunting, and all of the other things trucks are used for but I have always over-maintained it and taken exceptional care of the truck. It has been garaged for all but 2 of the 33 years I've owned it. As you can see by the listing it has about 275,000 miles. I purchased it with 41,157 miles. As is indicated, I have only driven the truck about 17,000 miles in the last 10 years. I bought another truck in 2007 and only drive this truck occasionally now. It has taken me quite a few years to come to the point where I can finally consider selling it. It has been a great truck for me. Many of the drivetrain components have been replaced over the years and I have maintenance records to show when the repairs were done. My maintenance records are detailed and include receipts. Have the build sheet out of the original seat in fair condition. I have completed most of the maintenance myself. It has surface rust on the undercarriage as shown in the photos. I removed a dime sized rust spot on the passenger door 8 or so years ago by cutting the metal away and replacing it with new metal. As the same time I coated the lower body side with 3M Rocker Schutz coating to resist paint chips before the final paint was applied. A few years before that, I cut ventilation areas in the bottom of the rocker areas behind the front doors to prohibit water collection and arrest rust formation. Rust preventative was applied and rust that had begun to appear in those areas has not progressed in over 10 years. I will provide photos if there is concern about rust on the truck. Engine/Drivetrain 7/2004 258,571 MlesNew GM Crate 4 bolt main engine from Summit Racing in RenoOriginal TH350 Transmission rebuilt with mild shift kitNP 205 Transfer Case checked/rebuilt/resealedNew water pump, fuel pump, HEI distributor, hoses, belts, master cylinder, etc,Remote solenoid installed to correct GM hot start issues The front and rear differential gears are stock. They are 4.10 gear ratio and both differentials are open. I have always changed the gear oil and replaced seals as necessary. The 4-wheel-dirve works well. Lock the hubs and shift it in, no issues. I had the shifter professionally shortened in order to provide more center seat leg room. The shortened lever does not affect the ability to shift to 4wd. Mobil 1 Full Syn 10w-30. I have tried to describe the truck the best I can. It runs good and drives nice. It is a very nice example of a well maintained truck, some might consider it babied. It is not perfect and is not a show truck as I have never restored it. I can be contacted with any questions and will be happy to provide honest answers to the best of my ability. On Mar-22-14 at 08:31:40 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to revise this listing to clarify a few more things about the truck. In the original description regarding the build sheet from the back of the front seat I meant to indicate the build sheet was in fair condition, not that the original front seat was in fair condition. I do not have the original front seat anymore. Also, as I have indicated in an answer to a question from an ebay member the truck did not come with factory A/C. The A/C came from a donor truck. More information is available in the answer section of that question. It would be good for interested bidders to read the answers I have posted. Other equipment on the truck that was unavailable at the time like the power door locks and interval windshield wipers are obviously not original. If you look closely you'll see the windshield wiper arms are black. They are from a newer Chevrolet car and fit better than the originals. I also added windshield washers to the wiper blades as well as retaining the original washers so there are two washers per side. In looking at the pictures I see the Maglite flashlight was still mounted on the dash. I have removed it. There is a hat rack and gun rack mounted to the ceiling of the truck and they go with it. One of the sides of the gun rack can be seen on the drivers side in an interior picture of the truck. There are additional gun rack mounts on the sliding rear window. They are visible in the pictures. The racks that fit into the mounts will go with the truck. The window mounts are adhesive backed and are removable. The truck did not come from the factory with a tilt steering column. I purchased a new one that is identical to the column the truck would have come with from the factory. In addition, these trucks did not come with an adjustable drag link from the factory. This condition resulted in the need to remove and re-position the steering wheel when the front end was aligned in order to center the attitude of the steering wheel. I added an adjustable drag link to the truck so this additional effort is not needed. The drag link can be seen in the picture showing the front sway bar. I have pictures of the original build sheet sticker on the inside of the glove box door as well as the original build sheet from the seat. I don't seem to be able to attach additional pictures as I have maxed out the 24 allowable pictures in the listing. The build sheet from the seat indicates the build date of 6/17/71 and that the truck was delivered to Herb Hallman Chevrolet in Reno. It also shows the sequence number of 22334 and that it came from the Fremont, California assembly plant. The original owner hand wrote "July 3, 1971 00005 Miles" on the front of the owners manual. Probably the day delivery was taken. If anyone wants the pictures feel free to send me a message and I will provide them. I have had several questions about my reserve price. I will not reveal the reserve price. I plan to allow the auction to run its course through tomorrow evening. I will say that I have put a lot of consideration into selling this truck and have set my reserve at what I consider a very reasonable level and expect it to be exceeded. In fact, the current bid price is not much below the reserve. This is not one of those auctions with a unrealistic reserve price. Thanks to all for the questions and interest. Don't hesitate to ask me a question if you need any other clarification.
