Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is this really nice '42 Torpedo, 4 door sedan. This car is a solid as it gets both top & underside. There is virtually no rust-through anywhere. The underside rockers and floorpans are 100% solid! Very hard to find a car of this year in this condition, especially in a very rare pre-war automobile such as this.(see pics of underside) The car looks to have been repainted once to the original color. The mileage is unknown as the odometer is on 05,468. The car starts every time easily and idles very smooth with no smoking. It runs nice and cool and maintains 40 lbs of oil pressure even after warm-up. The engine resonds very good when hitting the gas pedal. It is tuned up good and runs quiet and smooth. It handles great with no wobbling in the front end. It has a new clutch disc, pressure plate and throw-out bearing. The 3 spd manual tranny shifts smooth. The tires have deep tread with nice wide whitewalls. The glass is all good and windows all work good. The doors, hood, trunk all open and close nicely. The gauges, oil pressure, amp-meter, heat and gas all work. The speedo cable just broke so will it will need a new one. It has a heater & blower fan that work. The original interior is fairly nice. The back seat upholstery has some holes. The headliner is decent for a 72 yr. old car, but does have some staining. The garnish moldings are wood grain and in good condition. The dash is faded from age, but not tampered with. It has a radio but is not working. The lights work with the exceptoin of the brake lights and parking lights in front. I'm fiddling with them & trying to get them to work. It could be a ground wire. The horn is working. I pulled back the carpet in the trunk to show how solid the trunk floor is! (see pics). Lots of chrome with really nice lines. The brightwork on the car is nice and the bumpers have been rechromed and look new! It has a very nice shiney grill. The brakes on the car work good. The e-brake works, but could be adjusted a bit. The gas tank as been redone. In review, this is a very solid survivor car that starts, runs, steers and stops just great. It is not a show quality car with very minor imperfections, but a very respectible, proud to own & drive car. This car really gets attention out on the road. Looks kind of like a limo & rides smooth like one. Please email with questions early & to exchnge phone numbers to further discuss this car. This is a very affordable with a reseve set below $9K. A great value for a car in this shape. Bid with confidence.
