Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 This is a vintage 1972 Honda CL350K4 twin, with the eye-catching original “Scrambler” high-mounted pipes. This bike gets a lot of head turns and I get questions about it all the time. The bike is currently registered and insured, is safetied, and ready to ride TODAY. It needs ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but somebody willing to ride it with a wicked grin from ear to ear. I was planning on keeping this bike for years so I have put a lot of money and time into it. Unfortunately my riding days are over since my wife has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and we have two young kids. The bike has been winter stored at a dealership (see photos) and I just had it brought back home with the arrival of warmer weather. You can come by and hear it run today and have a test ride if roads are dry and free of salt. Serious inquiries only, please. IF NOT PICKED UP PERSONALLY SHIPPING IS ENTIRELY THE BUYER'S RESPONSIBILITY. Motor is original with serial number fitting the year.DETAILS: Engine top end rebuild in summer of 2013 by Powersports Honda, including: brand new pistons (with new gudgeons and wrist pins), first oversize rings, with cylinders machined and honed;brand new OEM cam chain tensionernew cam chainnew sealsnew gasketsNumerous after-market parts installed from Dime City Cycles, including: Clubman 7/8” handle bars with new gripsLucas style LED rear lightArrow “deco” turn signalsAluminum bar end mirrors Original Keihin 722A CVcarbs (rebuilt in January 2014: 70 primary, 105 main) All new EBC clutch plates in summer of 2013, including set of stiffer springs New points, condensor, and coils as of summer 2013 (spare new points available, too) 42amp rectifier upgrade from Oregon Motorcycle Parts (much improved over original selenium stock rectifier) Billeted aluminum rearsets by Old School Speed with custom pivot piece by Slip Stream Cycles for brake rod and light switch (pivot piece not installed in pictures but I’ll put it back on with original brake rod before sale) Complete stainless steel allen-head bolt kit for engine cases (much easier to work with than original Phillips screws!) with anti-seize Adjustable steering damper (mounted from stock threaded hole in tripletree directly to frame) Newly upholstered seat on stock pan (original locking mechanism intact) New battery in Sept 2013 New bearings in front wheel & balanced, summer 2012. New chain, tires and tubes, brush kit for starter, and front and rear brake pads replaced in Nov. 2010. All still in excellent shape. Tank is rust free. Speedo, odometer and trip meter, tach are all fully functional and gauges are not faded. Turn signals, brake light, high and low beams are all very good with attendant indicators. Starter works (tested during engine rebuild) but is not connected at switch. This could be easily addressed, but if you’re not prepared to kick start it you don’t deserve this bike!! :) Will include many extra parts, including: extra clutch cableextra set of brake pads extra carb gasket kits (original Honda, plus other aftermarket carb rebuild bits)jetting kit from Sirius Consolidated with varied main jets and O-rings if you are looking to boost power (e.g. if you want to put on pods in place of original stock air filters)new extra points set and condensorvarious bearings still in packaging (steering stem and others)extra clutch plates (cork and steel spacer), housing, and original spec springs still in Honda packaging I have poured literally thousands of dollars into this bike since I wanted it to be very reliable (the engine rebuild alone set me back $2600). I was willing to put in that kind of money since I expected to keep and ride it for another 20 years or more. Fate is a strumpet and had different plans: I just can’t ride a bike any more because my kids need me more than ever. I don’t expect to get anywhere close to the $$$ I have put into the bike back (well over $6000 at this point), but am asking a fair price for a very mechanically solid bike that has just had the top end rebuilt by a professional mechanic. Let my investment be your gain. This is NOT a “fixer-upper.” This bike is ROCK-SOLID, READY TO GO, and KICKS-ASS in an old-school way. If you know your vintage bikes then you’ll know this bike has all the right bits and has been done right. There is some minor pitting on the chrome headers and heatshield but it’s still all nice and shiny (see pics). The left rear shock has a lot of surface rust (behind the pipes) but can be easily swapped out or cleaned up with elbow grease. Front fender has some rust and flaking chrome where it meets right fork. There is also some rust on rear fender under the frame (hidden from view). I like to rock it the way it is: not pristine, but totally solid. If you've read this far then you obviously know this is not a modern super-bike. The bike is very sound mechanically but, like anything 40+ years old, will require attention now and then. It is a very straight-forward air-cooled, carbed twin, so it’s an easy bike to wrench on if that’s your thing. I still have almost all of the stock components should ever want to return this bike to its original form, includg the original upright handlebars, high rear light, shifter, kick starter, round mirrors, painted air filter covers (same colour as tank) etc. I even still have the original vinyl seat cover. Any missing parts to get it back to fully original (turn signals and foot peg bracket) would cost less than $100. If a brat bike is your thing it could be easily converted. This bike looks and sounds better in person than in photos or vids. Please, no low-ball offers. I’m not tight for money, but just can’t ride any more because of my wife’s health and want it to go to someone who will enjoy it as much as I have and will treat it right. Many more pics from the past two years and a vid so you can hear it are at Flickr ( include /honda_cl350k4 ) Thanks and happy bidding!!
