This is truly a beautiful classic work of art! Words cannot describe the joy's driving this classic luxury convertible sports car! This is a rare performance model which boasts a fuel injected 4.5 Liter V8 that puts out a massive 190hp & 240tq! The SL series stands for Sport Light. Mercedes was way ahead of the game with its fully independent suspension, and 4 wheel disk brakes. This car was made to perform and has stood the test of time as it still does 42 years later. This is known as the r107 which was in production from 1972 to 1989. This was the first year for this body and is rare because of the badging on the car. Mercedes marked it as a 350SL when in fact it had a 4.5 liter motor. The badging was changed the following year to 450SL. Mechanical Inspection: Motor is very strong, feels & sounds proper. Prefers to warm up a minute when cold, afterwards its very smooth.Transmission up shifts and down shifts properly. When cold, it takes a second or two to engage reverse but always catches No leaks noticedBrakes & E brake are working properlySuspension is in-tact, drives tight and rite. May need shocks later on down the road but not necessary at this time.Horn & All lights work.Tires have approx 70% tread but are older. A/C & Heat is all there and appears to have been updated. However, its not ice cold or hot heat. Might just be because of its age.Radio is older but works well and sounds good. Cosmetic Inspection: Paint & Body:Car has been completely painted and was done very well. Shines and feels like a factory job. Has a couple minor touch ups mainly to the rear passenger quarter and trunk lid. One or two door dings that are minor and didn't show up in pictures as i tried to capture them. A PDR guy could probably have them all out in about an hour. Otherwise very straight body. I checked to the best of my ability and was not able to find any rust on the car other than on the hard top which looks repairable. The rag top is in good order and is nicely tucked inside its holder. Interior: Its complete and nothing is really wrong with it other than the color of leather Mercedes chose doesn't keep clean very easily. Because of this the seats show their age, however there are no tears or rips in the leather. Carpet, Trim and Dash are all in good order. Overall: This is a fun car that you can enjoy just as it is. Its to be considered as a work of art in the automotive world. You will receive lots of looks, compliments and thumbs up every time you take it out.
