In 1968, this was one of the nicest and coolest cars around. This car is very highly optioned, and is very desirable for restoration. The car was turned into a 1968 ½ R Code Clone back in the 1980’s, and that’s when all the authentic Ford Shelby GT500 and Cobra Jet Parts were added to this car. Those parts alone are very desirable and nice additions to this car. The rear differential “SPEC” case alone is worth over $1400.00. Those are rare cases. As an original S Code 390 4 Speed GT car, accented in the beautiful Highland green paint, this car is at the top of the collectors lists. This car restored, will be highly desirable, and worth a lot of money. It doesn’t get any better than this combination of car and options. The car is a project car and does need some work, but it very complete and comes with the majority of its original parts. That car has its entire original interior, even the rarely optioned seats with the headrests. Don’t see that very much in 1968. Upper and lower Consoles, 8K tach, all dash trim, and all other interior panels. Now I’ll provide a breakdown of the car by section. Engine: 390 Shortblock 428 Cobra Jet Heads C8OE-6090-N 428 Shelby Aluminum Intake C7AE-9425-F Original Carter “X” Fuel Pump Original Autolite Shelby Distributor C5AF-12127-EThe 428 CJ heads are on the 390 shortblock that's in the car. The original 390 GT heads are off the car but come with it. They are C8AE-H 14 bolt and both have 8F24 date codes. Transmisison: Original RUG-AD 4 Speed Toploader with Hurst Shifter Rearend: Original 9” Rearend Upgraded to SHELBY “SPEC” Third Member used in Original GT500 cars. Very rare Case. Suspension, Steering & Brakes: Front suspension is original, and so is the rear. Front has all of the original Disc Brake Components. Brakes Booster is still on the firewall, and all of the power steering components are still on the car. I also have the power steering pump. Frame Rails: Frame Rails are very solid front and rear. The rear rails have been reinforced at some point in the car life for additional strength. Trunk Area: The trunk Floor pans are overall very solid all-around the gas tank. No large rust holes. Floor Pans: The floor pans are overall solid. A couple of them need replaced. I have a couple of new replacement floor pans for the driver’s side front floor and toe pan. Exterior Body: The body has a few issues. The car does need a taillight panel, the two small pieces that connect the taillight panel to the trunk area need replaced. The lip of the quarters that connect to the trunk weather strip sealing area have rust on them. I would try to repair this before I would replaced the quarters. The passenger quarter skin has been replaced before and wasn’t done very well. I would repair it or replaced the quarter skin and do it cleaner. Doors have had exterior rust in the usual areas on the lower front corners. They were in the process of repair but I would redo the previous repair work just to know it was done right. Fenders are solid. Have a brand new fender for the passenger side. Hood is nice and solid. Has the Cobra jet Hood Scoop on it. Engine Bay: Fender aprons are nice and solid except the battery apron. It needs replaced. The car was double VIN Stamped. A VIN is stamped on both the driver and passenger side of the vehicle fender aprons. The car has its original Big block Wrap around shock towers and they are in great condition. Firewall is in nice condition. Cowl is also nice and not rusted out. Interior: The car comes with its entire original interior. 8K Tachometer, full Décor Interior, Rare Nugget gold color, seats are actually in very good condition for their age. Car still has both of its consoles upper and lower. Original door panels, and all original dash panels, and rear interior panels come with the car. As you can see this car is very nice and comes with a lot of great original and other new parts. The car rolls and steers easily. The car is a project and does still need sheet metal and bodywork. But overall this car is very nice and if you’re looking for a car to restore that will be worth a lot of money when it’s done, then this is the car for you. Completed these cars bring $50-70k. I encourage anyone that is interested in this car to come and inspect it or check it out. I have no problem with showing the car. My description above was as detailed as I could be however, the car is over 40 years old and there might have been a few things that I have overlooked or forgot. The car is being sold as is, where is, with no warranty. The buyer is responsible for transport or shipping of this vehicle. International buyers are more than welcome. I will happily help with transport. I can also help get shipping quotes. Thanks and Feel Free to Make offers. This car wont last long!
