The Mini Traveler/Clubman/Estate/Van was produced from 1959 into the 70s or 80s. The Mini “Traveler” wheel base and body were a little over 4 inches longer than the Mini Sedans. The station wagons are more rare and harder to find than the Mini sedans. The Mk1 series (produced from 1959 to about 1969) is the most popular with its unique simple design: sliding windows, external door hinges, inside door latch pull cables, oval shaped gage pod located in the center of the dash for either left or right hand drive models. The Minis were only imported into the US from 1959-1967. The original style Mini was built from 1959-2000, until BMW bought the rights redesigned/reintroduced the “new” MINI to the US market in 2001 This Traveler has been Modified/Customized/Restored to keep the original Mk 1 style and some of the Mk 1 features, but most of all to be a modern, safe, economical, comfortable, and daily driven reliable small sport utility vehicle. We recently completed a 1,900 mile plus road trip vacation where we attended the Carlisle Import Replica/Kit Car National, the Austin-Healy Sprite 50th Anniversary in Pennsylvania. The Traveler ran flawlessly, got about 30 MPG and would out run just about everything on the highway. It drives and rides really well, but is best described as “Scary Fast” and needs to be driven with respect at all times. Most of the work on the Traveler was done by Mini Tec in Royston, GA.
