Vehicle Detail
up for auction is a 1951 plymouth cranbrook 2 door, this car was stored in a garage most of it's life, sat for many years untouched, when i got it, i flushed the fuel tank and fuel lines, put new plugs in it and a new coil and it fired right up...it's basic needs would be to rebuild the carb and put some new plug wires and basic maintenance....the carb, wires and much else on it are still the original parts, i have driven it around a bit and the steering feels good, the manual on the column shifts though all the gears smoothly, brakes feel good,,again, it sat for many years so it should be gone over before attempting to use it daily, i have installed a new 6 volt battery and it starts up fine,,choke sticks a bit and i have had to open it manually after first starting it, after that it runs smooth...the body is very solid with no signs of rot or ever having any dents,,behing the rear wheel on the passenger side is a bit of surface rust starting to show through the paint but rot rusted through, this could be sanded and painted right over,,the frame is solid,,floors have only surface scale on them, no rot,,the trunk pan is rust free, bumpers have some pitting but no rot, trim is in decnt shape, all the doors, hood and trunk open and close perfectly. all the original locks work too, in fact, everything in this car is in working condition, the horn, wipers, running lights, brake lights, headlights, turn signals, heater blower, interior light, dash light and even the original radio all still work fine. the seats {front and back} still maintain the clear plastic covers on them from original and even the door panels are still covered, all guages appear to be working but the fuel gauge is questionable, works at times and other times, not. the dash is like new and all glass on the gauges and all the window glass is clear. headliner is original and still intact , discolored from age but intact. has all 4 hub caps, good tires are older but still in good condition, the car has only 27,000 original miles on it and has maintanance stickers on it which confirm the miles as original and not turned over..exhaust is intact but a small leak can be heard near the muffler at start up..it was repainted once to a close to original color, the original color can be seen in the door jambs but is very close to the color done,,it will shine up but has not waxed in years, it would be extremely hard to find a more original and you could consistantly win "most original" in your local shows with this car. they are only original once and if taken care of, this interior will last for years to come, the front rubber floor mat is cracked from age but these are readily available an inexpensive, that would be the only interior upgrade i would do on it..with some basic maintenance , you could drive this every day. bid away for the most original rot free 2 door cranbrook you will find on ebay that would make any collector proud !
