*****Please note that this motorcycle is located in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. I prefer local pick up. If the winning bidder is unable to pick up the bike in person, he or she will be responsible for making all shipping arrangements as well as paying all shipping costs. The shipping company will have to come directly to my home to pick it up. I cannot crate this motorcycle. The bike can only be shipped to the winning bidder's confirmed Paypal address within the contiguous 48 United States. There is no international shipping.***** Up for auction is a beautiful 1971 Honda CT-70HK0. I purchased this bike on Ebay back in December 2007. The fellow that I bought it from had purchased it from a friend. It was not in running condition at the time. There was no spark. The bike sat in my garage until this past summer when I decided to try to get it running. Here is a list of the following things that I replaced: 1. Battery (OEM Honda) The original (not working) will be included. 2. Battery Cover (OEM Honda) 3. Rear inner tube (aftermarket) The original (tear at valve stem base) will be included. 4. Carburetor float bowl (NOS OEM Honda - very difficult to find) The original (leaking) will be included. 5. Front headlight bulb (OEM Honda) 6. Front indicator bulb (OEM Honda) 7. Front gauge cluster bulb (OEM Honda) 8. Rear light bulb (OEM Honda) 9. Rear tail lens (believed to be aftermarket but Made in Japan) 10. Rear shock covers (NOS OEM Honda with factory candy emerald green paint - very difficult to find) The originals (paint scratched/scraped) will be included. 11. Primary coil - Mitsubishi (NOS OEM Honda - very difficult to find) 12. Lighting coil - Mitsubishi (NOS OEM Honda - very difficult to find) 13. Condenser - (OEM Honda) 14. Gas Cap (OEM Honda) 15. Air Cleaner Clamp (OEM Honda) 16. Hi/lo switch (NOS OEM Honda) 17. Fuel lines (OEM Honda) The originals will be included. 18. Battery strap (OEM Honda) 19. Intake manifold gaskets (OEM Honda) 20. Carburetor gasket kit (OEM Honda) 21. Spark plug (OEM Honda) 22. Air filter (OEM Honda) 23. Carburetor float bowl hose (OEM Honda) In addition, I checked the valve adjustment and points gap, changed the oil, and thoroughly cleaned the carburetor. The bike ran at first but only with the choke on. It would not idle with the choke off. I was able to take it around my apartment complex (about 1/2 mile) a few times. It shifted through all the gears as it should. However, when I brought it back it wouldn't idle and then would rev up and die. It also appeared to be running lean (hot) since there was some blue appearing on the header pipe. I took a closer look at the throttle linkage and it appears that either the return spring is too weak or the cable itself has stretched to the point where it can no longer be adjusted. I also looked at the carburetor slide to see if it was binding in the housing. It does not appear to be. Despite having very good compression and strong spark, it now does not want to start. I am not sure whether it is electrical, carburetor related (needs larger jets?), or both. My hectic travel schedule does not allow me much, if any, time to bird dog these issues. Hence, the reason I am putting it up for sale. In addition, despite replacing the battery and bulbs, I can't seem to get the front lights working. It's probably a short which could very well be related to the erratic way the bike had briefly ran. Note that there may be other issues which I have simply not found or recognized. The bike is almost completely original (except for the items mentioned above) including the candy emerald green paint and Nitto tires. Candy emerald green was offered on the CT-70HKO model only. It is extremely rare to find one of these with original paint. Unlike the other colors, it did have a tendency to fade. Other than a few small blemishes here and there, the paint, including that found on the headlight bucket, presents extremely well for its age. There are a few issues. The area to the right of the Honda Trail 70 decal on the right side of the frame (as well as areas on the decal itself) isn't smooth to the touch like the rest of the bike. Perhaps you can call it a slight patina though there isn't any real discoloration in the paint to speak of. When you look at that area of the paint from a certain angle (from the side rather than head on), it looks almost as if there were some tiny dust particles in it. That's the best way that I can describe it. The right Honda Trail 70 decal is peeling slightly and has some slight fading in a few areas on the border. The decal has some tiny white flecks in it as well. The chrome presents quite nicely. There are some blemishes in it here and there including scratches and swirl marks. The right handlebar has a slight tweak to it. The seat has a tear on the left side. The carburetor intake bolts have acorn nuts on the end. One of the bolts in particular would not tighten in the carburetor housing. I do not have the tool kit that goes under the seat. There is a wear/rub mark on the left crankcase cover. The right front fork boot is torn. A pair of Honda fork boots (OEM but not NOS) will be included. I really hope this bike can go to a good home. Someone who not only has a great appreciation for them but also has the time and mechanical inclination to get it running as it should. I do NOT have a title to the bike but a bill of sale will be provided to the winning bidder. I will also be including an OEM Honda CT-70H Shop Manual as well as an OEM CT-70H Owner's Manual (Note that the owner's manual is for a CT-70HK1 rather than a CT-70HK0. They are basically the same with exception of the front forks.). There are no liens on this motorcycle. I am the sole owner. The VIN is CT70H-122116 and the engine serial number is CT70HE-122146. The engine is original to the bike. The engine and VIN numbers did not match on these early CT-70s. This bike was manufactured in 7/70 making it an early H model.
