Vehicle Detail
Today's vintage Mopar is an uber-rare 1957 Dodge Sierra Station wagon with the original D500 325" hemi under the hood. These cars are extraordinarily rare. Indeed, if you do a Google search, you will find only one or two others, and neither has the D500 badge. The D500 option consisted of a single 4 barrel, 9.25:1 compression ratio 325 CID hemispherical head engine developing 285 horsepower at 4800 rpm with 345 lbs-ft of torque at 2800 rpm. Not bad for mom's grocery getter! There were 13,033 Sierra 2-seat wagons built, in 1957, and 4,019 3-seat wagons. Relatively few (production not recorded in the factory records) of either version were D500 models. I believe this car to be a 3 seat model as it has a box of 3rd seat trim, but the seat itself is missing. I bought this car from a buddy in Hemet, California a couple of months ago because we were looking for a wagon to pull our vintage airstream. But, before this car even arrived I found a very nice low mileage 1964 Belvedere wagon that I bought as well. So, the D500 has to go. It is a very solid desert car. There is a bit of rust in the floors that has been repaired the old school way with pop rivets, but the area are quite small and would be an easy repair. The body is VERY straight and rust-free. All of the unobtainable wagon-specific trim and emblems are intact (including the D500 emblem), with the exception two of the DODGE letters on the hood. The hubcaps are all there. I have all four NOS tail lights. I have the original air cleaner. It was originally two tone light gray and dark gray metallic. Mechanically, the car starts, runs, and sounds terrific. I just had a complete dual exhaust system out on the car next week. I haven't gone through the brakes yet, so drives have been limited to short stints around my shop complex with the parking brake, but the car runs well and the torqueflite shifts well. There are no leaks from the motor or tranny, but the radiator does have a pinhole or two. Car has power steering and power brakes. Car has a clear title. There are 80+ photos here ~ http://s1091.photobucket.com/user/moparmontana/slideshow/1957%20Dodge%20D500%20sierra%20wagon%20for%20sale ...as well as a video here ~ http://youtu.be/pwuIMtX5nYQ Please look at these closely before you ask any questions, but don't hesitate to call me at 4o6-57o-9552 if you do. I will not give this car away. I do not need to sell it, and if you think it's too expensive then you shouldn't bid on it. You either understand how unique and rare this vehicle is or you don't. If you get it, you'll have the coolest surf/tow rig at the car show. Car is located in Bozeman, Montana 59715. Please look into shipping before you bid. I have 100% eBay feedback as both a buyer an a sell. I am an avid vintage Mopar fan and specialize in rare, unusual rust-free survivor cars. My collection includes a 67 hemi 4 speed GTX, a '56 Fury, '60 Desoto Adventurer, '33 Chrysler convertible, etc. Good luck and happy bidding! On Dec-02-13 at 03:11:20 PST, seller added the following information: I have had a lot of interest in and questions about this car. In order to answer them and provide more detail, I headed out to the shop yesterday and shot a second video. It should answer everyone's questions. As I have mentioned, and will mention again, I will not sell this car for much less than I'm asking. It is too rare, too straight, and I don't want to sell it that badly. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to call. Thanks for your interest, Pete 406-570-9552 http://youtu.be/dCPj-556ulg
