Vehicle Detail
I’m selling my 1991 Volkswagen Vanagon/Transporter whose mileage right now is 37948 and the opening auction price is $5000.00. It has been garaged for most of its life time and the engine, I should imagine, is in excellent condition as I changed the oil and oil filters every 1500 miles instead of the prescribed 3000 miles and I have the evidence to prove it in the form of oil filter carton tops with the oil change mileage recorded. (2 new oil filters are included). It has never been in an accident and never suffered hail, fire or water damage, and very little winter driving where salt damage might be a concern. Exhaust system needed some attention in the past but the dealer put on a patch that is still working as far as I can tell. Options are: 4-speed Manual Transmission, Flash Silver Clearcoat Metallic exterior color, Grey Velour Interior, Power Door Locks, Cruise Control with Resume feature, Five Spoke Alloy wheels, Power Windows. The interior upholstery is clean and in very good condition. It sleeps 4 adults (with the Pop-up top popped) and is fully equipped for camping with a gas range and a refrigerator that runs off either propane, the vehicle battery while driving, or AC current where available, so it is always keeping itself cold when necessary. There is an exterior propane tank located underneath the Vanagon to fuel the cook top range and refrigerator. The fabric of the pop-up top is in excellent condition and all original curtains for covering the windows when camping are included. The original Formica-topped tables for dining are in place, one of which has suffered a lacquer spill which will yield to lacquer thinner. The air conditioner needs servicing to get it back into operating condition. The brake warning light which always comes on when starting the vehicle has recently, at times, been stubbornly staying on even though the brake is off but eventually turns off. It is very clean inside and outside with a minimum of dings on the outside. It can’t be driven more than 5 miles before overheating as it needs a new thermostat and the passenger’s side window chattered recently while opening which might be overcome with a squirt of WD-40. There is a strong smell of gasoline after fueling but there is no evidence of a fuel leak after it is parked. It comes with all original equipment and original Volkswagen Owner’s manual, Camper/Multivan Supplement to the Owner’s Manual, Owner’s Manual for the Range Counter Unit, and Refrigerator Model RM 182B Van Fridge Instructions for Installation and Use. The auction winner must make their own arrangements for its removal from my location in Indianapolis, Indiana. The four views were taken in October 2013. The vehicle is not returnable and will not have any plates at time of pickup. There is no lien on this vehicle. Thanks. P.S. The yellowish cast in the picture of the rear of the vehicle, is due to the sun shining on the lawn behind it; the color of the rear matches the color of the van throughout.
