Vehicle Detail

This was my daily driver for my appliance repair business. Prior to that, it belonged to my neighbor for his painting business. Lot of highway miles. We live in Stafford so everything's 30 miles away. When I got the van from him, I made the mistake of switching to synthetic oil. Lots of detergents in that. Apparently that caused the sludge buildup to dislodge, resulting in two stuck valves. Mechanic removed the oil pan and cleaned everything out. I ran engine cleaner through it and changed the oil twice. However, could not get the two valves unstuck. It actually drove fine like that, but when it came time for emissions, there's no way it would pass like that. But you can drive it home if you bring your own tag. I debated whether or not to get it fixed, but eventually decided just to buy a new van. So here's the rundown: THE GOOD Transmission is smooth and works perfectly. Newer Interstate battery. Upholstery and dash are clean and in very good condition. Glass is good. There is a jumpseat bolted to the floor for a 3rd person. I make no claims as to the safety of that. Make your own determination. My advice for things like that: Don't crash. Body is overall pretty clean. Most noticeable flaws are the typical hood peeling from GM's low grade bonding and a buckle under the gas cap where the mechanic missed the frame while putting it up on the lift. Current va safety inspection. THE BAD Needs new heads. Based on what I've seen of these engines I think that would be the best way to proceed. Bottom end is fine. No burning oil or compression issues. I had a strange problem with the front rotors. They warped when they got hot. I was going to put them in oven and see what happened, but I never got around to it. Anyway, I ordered the best slotted and drilled high performance rotors I could find with ceramic brake pads. Then the thing stopped like a Corvette. But I have noticed the problem starting to come back. Scratching my head on that one. I noticed on the new van that GM has gone over to rear rotors, presumably to balance out the stopping power a little better. Had to recharge the A/C this year, but it still works fine. Tires are fair: vary from 30% to 50%. Also I think it needs a new flasher. The left turn signal flashes double-time even though the lights are all working. Also the jack is missing. That's all I can think of. If you want to come by and look at it, parked at 9 Barrington Court Stafford Va. Please do not disturb the residents. People come and go here, and they don't know anything about it. Email me your questions. Thank you for looking.
