Vehicle Detail
It's time to sell my '85 Corvette. It is in very good mechanical shape, It has been my almost daily driver for 6 years (5-6k miles a year) and has never let me down. During this time I have replaced the fuel pump, alternator, brake master cylinder, air flow meter, shocks, and pretty much every rubber hose. Most within the first couple of years, the previous owner didn't drive it much and age is not kind to rubber and gaskets. I'm used to older cars and tend to be proactive about repairs, better to fix it right at the first sign of trouble than to be stranded. It has some tasteful and effective engine mods - long tube headers with the correct emissions hookups - high flow catalytic converter (magnaflow, built for this model with correct flanges) - flowmaster cat back exhaust - set of new flow matched injectors (stock size, much better atomization than the originals and no problems with the alcohol in current gasoline) - mild porting of the intake and replace all intake gaskets - 1.6 ratio steel roller rockers and tall valve covers to clear them - performance coil, plug wires, cap, rotor, and ignition module. - Jegs starter (needed to clear the headers) Most of my time and effort with this car has been about making it drive well, the weaknesses are -the intior is worn and faded, it's all there, it's serviceable, and it all works but if you're looking for a pristine example this isn't it. It's all the original 28 year old stuff, not abused but showing its age. -the paint is faded, oxidized, and 28 years old. - the original radio is on its last legs (don't know if the tape deck works haven't owned any tapes for years) - the air conditioning needs a charge, it works but not well - blower motor is weak, again it works but not well (still passes VA state inspection) The good stuff - tires have about 2k miles on them... lots of tread - all the original power acc. work .. the windows, the headlights (both headlight motors rebuilt by Zip corvette), seats, mirrors, etc. - the digital dash works ( has that 80's retro vibe) - lifts for the back window are new - runs great, daily driver capable The summary.. It's a well sorted good running car. A paintjob and some interior work and it will be a good looking car, or it would make a good candidate for a track day car, or just do what I did...drive it and enjoy it. I will answer any questions I can. -
