GET READY FOR WINTERUp for sale here is our family’s 2003 Subaru Forester 2.5 XS (Smoke Free). This great SUV has served us for almost 10 years, making many trips to Florida, Canada, Colorado, Kentucky, and back. It has been very well maintained with regular oil changes, tire rotations, fluid changes, and every other recommended maintenance item taken care of since we have owned it. No accidents – clean title. It has current inspection until 9/2014. We are only the second owners, buying it after the first owner unexpectedly passed away soon after purchasing it new. This is a great vehicle and would serve as a very good first car - it is safe, has all-wheel-drive, ABS, air-bags, and has many features that make it one of the best choices for all-weather capability and passenger safety. Through the years, the Forester has accumulated nearly 122,000 miles, most of them on highways. The mechanical condition of the car is great – it drives fine, everything works (power windows, locks, panoramic sunroof, heated seats, cruise control, etc.) and it has no issues to report in terms of the engine, transmission, or driveline. The shifter mechanism is somewhat “sticky” when switching from Park to one of the drive gears, but our mechanic indicated that this is nothing out of the ordinary, especially considering the car has seen little use over the past 2 years. The cosmetic condition of the Forester is certainly not perfect, but acceptable for the age and does not detract from the usability or practicality of it at all. There is zero rust, the paint shines well, and overall it is quite clean. It does have several scratches, a few dings/minor dents here and there, a crack and crease in the front bumper, and some wear and tear on the inside of the cargo bay and a little bit of wear on the driver seat side bolster. The leather is very clean with no cracks, rips, or tears, and is still very supple, due to the fact the car was garaged most of the time. The A/C blows very cold and the automatic climate control works great. The stereo was replaced with a Kenwood unit and all the speakers were replaced with Polk speakers of the same size/diameter as the originals. It sounds great! Also, there was a subwoofer in the cargo bay but it has been removed to be put into another car. However, the wiring (power, ground, remote turn-on, RCA cables) are all there in case you want to add a subwoofer of your own. It would be a very simple plug-and-play in the event you want to add one. Also, it is equipped with a genuine Subaru trailer hitch and wiring, and comes with adapters to fit different size receivers. Overall this Forester is a good car that has been very reliable for the years that we’ve owned it, never having a single issue that was out of the ordinary or not maintenance-related. The reason we are selling it is that we simply have no need for it anymore, since we have two other cars that we use primarily and this one does not get as much use as it once did.
