1965 Buick Electra 225 Convertible One of the coolest gangster style cars from the 60s built and now one of the most reprived model cars being restored. Not only by purest, but also buy younger adults doing some resto-mod restorations with these too. Bigger rims and slight suspension drop on this car with a factory look too, only make this car look better and doesnt hurt the value at all. This car has been in AZ and TX its whole life. Seeing as it sat for the last 15 yr for the most part, the interior got baked from the Az sun, and the lower part of the rear floors took the most hit from rust. I think rest of the floors are usable as is or maybe POR15 them first. Both outter rear quarters took a hit too from dirt gathering there over the yrs. The trunk pan is more solid then expected on the inside and Id have no problem fixing what is there and dropping a new trunk mat on it. Fuel Tank recommended to be cleaned out before hooking the fuel line back up. Being an AZ car mostly, the frame, rockers, and rest of the car are pretty solid. Also very clean is around the boot area and in front of the rear wheelwells. What youll see in the pics is the cars ORIGINAL BLACK paint, so whatever damage is there youll see and nothing hidden underneath from its past. No bondo on the car. 90% of the trim I can tell is all there and restorable.Even the rear wheelwells are pretty solid where the fenderskirts mount. This is one of the coolest 2dr convert probably ever built... If you are looking for a nice 60s 2dr convertible, you have a few choices (lincoln, Buick and a few others) but this wasBuicks TOP OF THE LINE MODEL to compete with all the rest. This car has been sitting alot for the last 15 yrs, so to be safe we ran the fuel pump pick up line to a small container of fresh gas.. We then pressed the gas pedal a few time and after a few cranks, she came to life !! Just changed the oil , nothing else and it runs great. Power Brakes work since we installed a new master. Great color combo : Triple Black DRIVETRAIN: best I can tell this is a 445 Big Block 4V Buicks top of the line motor offered that yr. Tons of torque make this beast fun to drive. It will easily run with the big dogs and as much fun in traffic as it wouldbe on the interstate. With a little work, this car cameto life and runs pretty good too. Youll probably want to tune it up when you get it but as is, it runs well. We have it running off a small gas can under the hood for now so it only runs off clean gas. PS works well as do the brakes, but youll probably want to check out all 4 corners before driving daily. AC is all there, and connected, but not sure what it will take to be functional.Auto trans feels good as does the rearend. I did notice a small water leak, I think it may be from the bottom of the radiator somewhere. INTERIOR: is showing its age. Az sun has been really hard on it and it will need a full resto there too. But its very complete and wouldnt take much to restore an interior like this in a weekend. Id pull most of it all out and at least clean and paint the metal and then do the carpet, vinyl etc. Areas could be covered with POR15 and covered with newcarpet and no one would know, but for a nicer restoration youll probably want to replace the floor pans and nearby areas. STILL BEATS RESTORING AN EASTCOAST SNOW CAR !! Trunk is totally usable as is, surface rust there but still solid.Top frame is solid and still has fluid in the lines, not sure if the motor works or not, but my guess it wont take much to fix it. Cant get any of the PW to work at the moment, but again thats something that will need to be done during the restoration. Components are there helping in the resto. SUSPENSION: just mostly all original Buick stuff Suspension is mushy and old but pretty much to be expected. Actually feels decent for its age. BODY: Pretty solid compared to most cars this old out there. But you can see where there are some dents down the passenger side mostly got the worst of it. Dr side may have a dent too thats hard to see with the black paint. Windshield is cracked, but rest of the glass is all there and in good shape. 1 rear quarter glass is out, but comes with the car. Grill is very nice as are the bumpers not too bad either. Stainless trim around the car in really nice shape too.
