Vehicle Detail

1947 Chevrolet 4400 1.5 ton Cab and Chassis Used in the same orchard since the 1960's here in Green Bluff, Washington it was tinkered with by the local handyman and never really went anywhere. Gas tank was riddled with pinholes and had to be removed after losing 7 gallons on the street one night. SOLID floors and cab corners with some surface rust here and there. At one time this truck belonged to the Odessa, Washington Wheat Co-op as one of their fleet of trucks for harvest but was sold in the 60's. Motor is from a 1952 Chevrolet and is a truck model and performs better than the original 216 straight six. I had it running in a few minutes with a gas can serving as an auxiliary tank. Carb was rebuilt in august to aid with the starting. The wiring is old and tired cloth insulated and for safety's sake should be redone. Generator puts out 8.6 volts so I'm sure it was converted to 8 volts back in the 60's to help make it through the winter otherwise it would just be parked. I ran the correct 2/0 battery cables so getting it started should be a breeze with your new 6 volt or 8 volt battery. Truck comes with new body, door, and hood moldings in the bags with tags to identify what they go to. Seat is great has been taken apart to free up and clean the mechanism inside. E-brake has been gone through as well! shifts clean with no grinds and floor start works. Previous owners put a new starter on before selling. Serial number is actually 21 QK-H 1191. It's hard to see, but I could just make out the hint of a "tail" on the "O", which may make it a "Q" instead. Being a "Q" also makes it work out with the listed model codes, with a "QK" being a 4400 1.5 ton 161" wheelbase. The rest works out like this; 21 is the assembly plant, Janesville Wisconsin, H is the month built, June, and the rest is the sequential number. I can hold this for about 30 days or until the snow flys then we need to get it gone before it is buried behind other peoples boats and RV's in storage. If you want it held for the winter we can make arrangements but it won't be free. You are bidding on a truck that's 76 years old so don't be expecting much except a rock solid body and a put put old six cylinder put with a little tinkering this could be a great trap truck or apple box hauler. Buyer must pay $500 within 48 hours via paypal with the balance in a check or money order within 5 business days following the auction. Truck does not leave until check clears NO EXCEPTIONS! Failure to comply with terms of auction will result in negative feedback and an unpaid bid report filed. SOLD ON A WASHINGTON BILL OF SALE ONLY, BEEN OUT OF THE SYSTEM SINCE THE 60'S AND THAT IS ALL I CAN PROVIDE. THERE IS NO TITLE BUT THE VEHICLE IS CLEAR! Good luck and happy bidding, email questions and more pic request I have more photos just ask!On Oct-07-13 at 22:45:18 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE OCTOBER 7TH Was hoping to get a little more response so I will be working on this each night to get it more towards being "Turn Key" on pickup! This has been placed on C-List as well so if it suddenly goes away everyone will know why. I pressure washed the gas tank that I was going to include and will etch it in the morning. By tomorrow afternoon I will have poured the new liner into the tank and it will be curing inside. I don't want to drill the frame rails because that is a personal thing but this tank will be ready to go by the end of the auction and set up to attach where you see fit. My recommendation is right side behind the cab outside of frame rails WHERE THE OLD ONE WAS. The pick up tube will be included and installed. Tomorrow evening I will be ready to install ground straps hopefully. Please stay tuned for DAILY updates while I try to improve this and add some value to this unit for you to enjoy. CHECK BACK OFTEN! On Oct-10-13 at 02:55:20 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE OCTOBER 1O ACID ETCHED THE GAS TANK AFTER DEGREASING AND NOW POURING NEW LINER THIS MORNING! CUT NEW 3/0 GROUND STRAPS YESTERDAY AND INSTALLING TODAY! On Oct-10-13 at 19:06:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Update Thursday 10 Oct cut the new cables this afternoon after class and pressure washed the gas tank out one last time and it is drying. Tomorrow is put the new liquid liner in! Get outta my way folks I'm on a mission!!! Also gonna run some tail light wires out to the end of the rails tomorrow!
