Vehicle Detail

Description You are looking at a beautiful original survivor 1971 BMW Bavaria Sedan. This was purchased new in Germany in April of 1971 and shipped in a container to the US. This is a one owner automobile with a great deal of documentation and the rare 3.0L motor. All of the original sales slips, shipping documents and many of the maintenance records are included. There are 224 pictures below that may take a few minutes to load. Please review all pictures before bidding so you know exactly what you are buying. If you cannot see the photos below, please click here. Below is a video collection of the car: This BMW Bavaria was the owner's cherished possession and has been extremely well kept. It has been garage stored and well maintained. This car appears to be completely stock. Note that it has the original seats, seat covers, engine, body panels and some or all original paint. It also has extremely low miles when you consider the age. It drives like it has 50,000 miles in our opinion. Note as stated, it has the original keys, first aid and tool kits, manuals, bill of sale, import documents, service records and other paperwork. When the owner passed away, his wife who is in her 80s, contacted The Sell it Now Store to sell the vehicle on her behalf. Also note it is titled as a 1972 as this is when it arrived in the USA. The BMW New Six is a line of six-cylinder luxury cars produced by the German automaker BMW from 1968 to 1977. The series, which used the M30 engine, was introduced as a response to the Mercedes-Benz-dominated large luxury car class and was very important in establishing BMW's reputation as a maker of sporting, luxury sedans. Racing versions of the coupe enhanced BMW's reputation in auto racing. Cosmetically, it is hard to determine if and the extent of any paint and bodywork over the years, but we believe the colors, body panels, engine, transmission, gauges and accessories to be original. It sports a black interior and we believe the miles to be original. Mechanically, this runs surprisingly well. The car drives and shifts well through all the gears. It drives straight down the road, and the steering is tight. The car does not rattle, and it was a pleasure to drive. However, the tires do have some cracking, and we are sure there will be other issues just from the years of storage. The gas also should be run out or drained. This vehicle is really an outstanding original for the age. We were shocked to see the original seat material, low miles, and the straight panels on this rare car. It does have small dings and marks from age as shown in the photos and there is some rust as shown. Also note the manuals, toolkit and other accessories and parts as shown. As with any classic car, we cannot warranty any parts and as with most vintage vehicles, they are always a project in some way. Please note this before bidding if you are looking for a vehicle that will operate like a new vehicle. Collector cars are many times tempermental and reliability can be a factor on some. We also did not test each accessory or feature, and only drove the vehicle for a short distance. Also note there are marks and dings from use and age. Condition ReportThis car is an original survivor bought in Germany and imported to USA in 1971. We are unsure how it will do as far as emissions but passed Wisconsin's tests over the years. The car runs and drives well. Excellent overall condition but has been stored for years and may need a light reconditioning. Tires do have some dry rot, and there is light corrosion under the car from storage as shown in the photos. However, the underbody is super solid and the body and interior is outstanding considering the age. Also note that the windshield wipers do not operate reliably, and there are rust spots in various locations with some rusting below paint surface as shown in the photos. This should be considered an easy project and not ready for a cross country autocross. Additional Details: We cannot warranty any parts and as with any vintage vehicle, they are always a project in some way. Please note this before bidding if you are looking for a vehicle that will operate like a new vehicle. Collector cars are many times temperamental and reliability can be a factor on some. We also did not test each accessory or feature, and only drove the vehicle for a short distance. Also note there are marks and dings from use and age. The automobile should be transferred on a trailer to the destination until the vehicle is checked over for safety (tires, etc). The title is free and clear, and we are also requiring a bill of sale be signed by the new owner stating this car is being purchased as-is. It is being sold to settle an estate. It is a straight car as you can see in the photos. The colors are great and it is very old school. As stated, it gets a ton of attention and would make a great addition to your collection.
