1971 VW Bus Transporter Van (this IS a different bus folks, and our last 1 for a while) this is a great year bus for collectors for this generation (ft disc brakes / and more...) This VW has been in Arizona, the desert environment most of its life, just check out the sheetmetal. I know the car back in the day did have an accident near the RF corner, which was repaired, not great but okay. Signs of bondo there . The battery area is pretty damn clean. Shows 75 on the odometer, good chance its turned over Get in and it starts right up and runs well too. Doesnt always want to idle, could just be a carb adjustment and lifters sound like they need to be adjusted too. Drive it around and other then cosmetics, its a good running Bus that would restore nicely without a ton of work like most I see out there. Making this Bus affordable to buy and you can use it as a driver, or restore it like factory, or put your own twist on it. This is prob about 4th Bus we have sold on ebay this yr and the last 3 did go back to Germany with great feedback (like all our cars) Its obviously not a show car, but its a SOLID platform to start with. Drivetrain: the original motor the best I can tell. Motor runs well, no smoke and plenty of power. Suspension feels typical for a Van this old for a daily driver. No signs of any major problems underneath it all either. Hit the key (currently not mounted in the original pocket) and it starts right up. I wouldnt hesitate to drive it anywhere locally. It could possibly make a road trip, even the tires are in nice shape mounted on some older Mercedes Alloy rims I think I have the spare for it, but we are looking for it. If I find it, Ill toss it in. INTERIOR: The front seats are pretty worn out as is much of rest of the interior. Middle back seat not bolted down. Rear seat is actually in okay shape. Floors are solid in the back , you can see some damage to the pass side front floor a little from a previous accident. Doors shut fine and fit looks good too around both sides. Would be easy to restore. EXTERIOR: The Bus was originally white It was painted a few yrs ago and not well I may add. Looks like a Maaco job the prep work was really bad. So its good from far, but far from good haha. Depends on what you want to do with it in the end. This car is 99% rust free Arizona van. There you have it, probably The BEST represented VW Buses on Ebay. Shows you all the good as well as any bad, hope you appreciate them. People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale and even if you have to pay shipping to your area, it still beats paying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end. Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these days speaks volumes. Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what sort of surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating. On On Oct-01-13 at 01:15:38 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to mention a few things I forgot.The motor has a oil leak on the pass side cam cover, pretty typicalwith these motors but it drips more then Id prefer to see.Also, the van is shown in the pics w/o a radio and it will not come with any radio , stock or aftermarket. But the one in there will be removed nicely so you can install your own for a nice finished look.All glass seems to be good, and for some reason the headlights are not working. Could just be a fuse, Im going to try to fix them this week. Its should be an easy fix.
