Up for auction is my 1972 Triumph T120R Bonneville. I acquired this Bonneville sometime ago from a private collector. As you know from my feedback and other auctions, I am personally more of a Japanese motorcycle collector and do not specialize in British makes but because of the nice original condition of this Bonneville I decided to acquire it. Although my knowledge around British makes is limited, I do feel this is a nice original Bonneville which appears to be very original and appears to be low mileage. In fact it appears to even still sport the original Dunlop tires. The frame number appearing on this Bonneville is NG36747 T120R and Engine Number appearing on this Bonneville is NG36747 T120R making it a matching numbers original example. The last time this Bonneville was on the road was the early 1980’s. According to the original owner, this Bonneville did run well when stored and I’m sure it will need some general maintenance such as cleaning the carburetors and any other general maintenance as recommended by Triumph. This Bonneville appears to be in overall good original condition and would be an outstanding starting point for a complete restoration as most of the original parts are present and in good condition. The only areas of this Bonneville that I can see needing immediate attention are the following outside some general maintenance as mentioned in the first paragraph: The left side cover is missing as well as the gauges and the intake boots. Outside these areas this Triumph appears to be mostly complete, correct and unmolested and is in very, very clean condition. The body work on this Bonneville is in overall nice original condition. The fuel tank is nice and features original paint. The inside of the tank is clean with no major rust of any kind. The side cover that is present looks to be original and nice condition. The front and rear fenders are in original condition. The front fender appears to be the correct fender with original paint. The rear fender is original and is in nice condition. The tires appear to be the originals Dunlop Brand and are marked “Made in Great Britain”. The handlebars are straight and the chrome is very nice. The seat is a very nice original with a solid pan. The engine turns over with excellent compression. The bike is overall very clean and has not been modified or molested in any way that I can see and would be an ideal candidate to keep original with a few parts added or easily the best example to do a complete restoration with as it is a very, very deserving candidate. I also of course have a clear title for this Bonneville as well. Overall, as mentioned, I am not a British model expert but do have many Japanese examples and New Old Stock parts and this appears to be a very real, low mileage original example of a Triumph T120R. I am convinced the new owner will appreciate the overall originality and quality of this Bonneville as they will have an excellent original example or an outstanding starting point for a restoration.
