Vehicle Detail
1968 Ford Mustang Convertible *Numbers Matching VIN on J-Code 302ci Engine* HISTORY OF THIS MUSTANG:I am selling this car for my father who purchased this car from a private individual in 1979. He drove it home in 1979 and placed it in his building until now. It has been in storage for 34 years. We chose not to start the engine on the advice of some restorers, so the vehicle has not been started.Has a clear title in hand1968 MUSTANG STATS:Approximately 317,404 Mustangs built in 1968Of those, 25,376 Convertibles were built in 1968Of those, 3339 were Deluxe Convertibles (This car is one of those!)Of the 25,376 convertibles built, approx. 3419 were built with the J-Code 302ci V8 engineOf those 3419 that had the J-Code engine, 832 had a manual transmission while 2587 had an automatic transmission (This car is one of those!)ACCORDING TO THE MARTI REPORT: This car was one of286 with this paint code12 with these paint/trim codes2587 with these Engine/Transmission codes176 ordered from this DSO (Company Lease Plan)6367 with Parchment Power Top/Glass Backlite - for the 1968 Mustang Convertible overall production including standard and deluxe models - DOOR DATA PLATE INFORMATION: VIN: 8F03J1315608 - 1968F - Built at Dearborn, MI03 - Mustang ConvertibleJ - 302ci 4barrel V8 engine131560 - 131,560th vehicle off the production line for 1968 76B - Mustang Convertible Deluxe* - paint code missing means it was custom special order paint6U - Parchment Decor Bucket Seats29M - Scheduled for build on December 29, 1967 (car was actually produced on Dec. 26, 1967 - three days ahead of schedule)892059 - Transportation Services Ordering District Under Special Order #2059E - 3.00 Limited Slip Rear AxleW - C-4 Cruise-O-Matic Automatic Transmission VEHICLE WAS ORDERED WITH THE FOLLOWING FEATURES: Parchment Power Top/Glass BacklightC-4 Cruise-O-Matic Automatic TransmissionLocking DifferentialVisibility GroupF70x14 Wide Oval TiresWhite Sidewall Nylon TiresPower Disc BrakesPower SteeringAM/FM Stereo RadioInterior Decor GroupDeluxe Seat BeltsDeluxe Wheel Covers J-CODE 302CI 4 BARREL V8 ENGINE BLOCK INFO: C8ZE-9425-A (Casting Number) C - 1960's8 - 1968Z - MustangE - Engineering9425 - Engineering #A - Made in Dearborn, MI 7M14 (Date Code - More accurate date of manufacture - Engine built on Dec. 14, 1967) 7 - 1967M - December14 - Day of month built DISCLAIMER:This car is a "PROJECT CAR" and would need a full restoration, but as it sits it is a numbers matching car, with an engine that seems to have a lot of desire over the standard 289's.As you can see in the pictures, the dark blue is not the original color. Original color which was a custom special order color (looks like a sky or baby blue) and is visible in a lot of areas. The way it is now is the way it was purchased. The convertible top is not original either. According to the Marti Report, the car came with a Parchment (off white or cream) colored top with a glass rear window. Current one is black with a plastic window.Interior is all original in Parchment color.Exterior has rust in areas as can be seen in the photos.Front and rear bumpers have some damage on them as seen in the photos.I am selling this car AS-IS, NO WARRANTY.This is a used car that is 45 years old and is being sold as is.Due to this vehicle being in storage for 34 years, trailering or towing is required Normal.dotm 0 0 1 25 144 Heim Family iMac 1 1 176 12.0 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false Call me at 812-639-3491 if you have any questions. On Sep-25-13 at 17:24:46 PDT, seller added the following information:I forgot an important note. The cooling fan was turned a little bit today and the engine turned freely, so I guess that means the engine is not seized up which is a good thing. Figured most of you would like to know that! Thanks for looking, KurtOn Sep-26-13 at 14:06:32 PDT, seller added the following information:I have added some more photos to max out the amount ebay will allow. Hopefully some of these will show some of the areas that I have been getting questions about! Thanks, Kurt
