"crate" engine, dealer installed Automatic transmission Air Conditioning (Newly upgraded to R134 specs.) Power steering Tilt wheel Power brakes Power windows Power doorlocks Remote side mirror control Cruise Control AM/FM radio, door mounted speakers, MP3/usb/SD card inputs Adjustable rear air shocks Heavy-duty front and rear anti-roll bars New interiorTerrific 16" x 8" wheels and tires in excellent condition Stainless tie-down hooks in the bed New tailgate straps Heavy-duty rubber bed-floor liner Recent work ( like in the last month) includes: New remanufactured Quadrajet carburetor New Engine Control Module (The engine-control computer) New Ignition Module (In the distributor) New Distributor signal pick-up coil (In the distributor) New CARB-Certified Catalytic Converter System tune-up to pass smog tests New O/H A/C Compressor, Clutch & Accumulator Full A/C conversion to R134a RefrigerantNew front shocks New under-hood insulation pad Fresh smog certificate (8/19/2013) New tailgate straps. Most of the above work was getting everything in top shape for the smog test. The smog-related work cost over $1000. The A/C work was about $500. In the last 8000 miles (done by previous owner): New factory 350 "Mr. Goodwrench" "crate" engine, dealer installed New clear-coat original-color repaint New interior, including: Seat upholstery, Headliner, Carpets and Sun visors New front brakes and rotors New rear adjustable air shocks New muffler I have the clear title and the new smog papers in hand. The Details:For sale is my beautiful 1982 El Camino. It drives great, handles like a dream, and gets the looks. The body and paint look awesome. The color is brilliant white clear coat, so it looks like a new car. The bumpers and chrome are all excellent. The front optional front air dam under the bumper gives a nice custom look to the front end. The bed is nearly flawless, unheard of in a 31-year-old El Camino! The floor of the bed appears to be the original paint, without a scratch. The wheels look perfect on this Elky, bold but not overdone, and the handling is much improved over stock. The tires are excellent. Adjustable rear air shocks allow for the occasional heavy load. The interior is really nice and even includes a new headliner and visors. These items are almost always in pretty bad shape in Gen 5 El Caminos. The carpet and the carpeted cover over the rear storage areas behind the seats are also new. All of this work was done within the last 8000 miles. The A/C has been completely gone through and refitted for R134a Refrigerant. It blows ice cold. The power windows, power door locks and even the windshield washer work fine. The replacement 350 engine is a real bonus, as the original 305's had a reputation for being a bit under-powered. This one is definitely not under-powered, and this was the only engine upgrade possible and still keep it CA smog legal. It's a factory-new “crate” engine installed by an Alameda Chevy dealer within the last 8000 miles. The car has seen good maintenance and the engine sounds and runs like new. The transmission shifts like new and the fluid is clean. The mileage on the car is unknown. It showed about 90K when I bought it, but the speedo was registering 10 miles for every 7 driven and it may have rolled over anyway. I replaced the speedo and still have the original one if needed for any mileage verification. I also have a recent CarFax report on the car that seems to verify about 90,000 miles, but there is a notation for “miles over” being a possibility. Not sure how to interpret that, nor how long the car had been driven with the inaccurate odometer. I have the receipts for much of the work done by the previous owner and all of the parts and labor since then. And get this: NO LEAKS! There will be no spots in your driveway with this El Camino, a rare thing for a 31-year-old vehicle! OK, that's all the good stuff. The bad stuff is that the cruise control has been disconnected and it still is, the clock second hand works but the rest does not, and the dash top has some sun cracks. The new dash cover hides them, fits well and looks good. That's about it! Hagerty Classic Cars Evaluation Tools shows the average value of a clean 1982 El Camino at $8182. Check it out here: http://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/HVT/VehicleSearch/Report?vc=119815 I'm asking $5750 for this one for a quick sale. It's hard to find these El Caminos with power windows, door locks, tilt, cruise, and A/C, and especially ones that have already had all this expensive work done! I bought it only about two months ago but my situation has unfortunately changed and I can no longer keep both it and my regular work truck. One has to go, so it needs to by my toy. I've spent a lot of money and time on it making sure I would never again have to worry about emissions-related issues, so just about everything in those systems is new. Since the A/C system is now just like on any newer car, any future recharging will never be an issue. The system has a newly remanufactured compressor, a new accumulator and new seals. The smog and A/C systems on these El Caminos are about the only possible money-pits, and they are both in top shape on this one. The car is located near Santa Rosa, CA, and can be shown at any time. I will not sell the car sight-unseen. If you are interested and cannot make a personal inspection, you'll have to authorize someone else whom you trust to do the inspection. Thanks for looking!
