Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is our 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport - a good, solid, reliable truck. My sister-in-law purchased this truck pre-owned from Carmax; it has been in our family ever since. My brother and sister-in-law used this truck as a daily driver until about 2 years ago when they gave it to my dad to use as a spare vehicle. My dad then gave the truck to me to use as my daily driver when we needed another car. So, it looks like the car has had a bunch of owners, but all but one have been part of my family. We now need a car with a third row, so it's time for the Jeep to find a new home. The truck is the 4-wheel drive “Sport” model (as were most) and, as most Jeeps, will drive through just about anything. We have a different "all wheel drive" vehicle, but it can't compare to the snow, slush and dirt capabilities of the Jeep. The equipment/options list includes the following:- 6-Cly, 4.0 Liter Engine- 4-Wheel Drive- Dual Airbags- Air Conditioning- Power Steering- Power Windows- Power Locks- Cruise Control- Tilt Steering Wheel- Deep Tint Rear Privacy Glass- Roof Rack- Tow Package (Heavy)- AM/FM/CD Radio The truck has outstanding, new, Consumer Reports' highly rated Hankook Optimo H727 tires on new Cragar Rims. The truck itself is in good shape for a 15 year old vehicle, though there are a few small dings, scuffs, scratches and paint chips as you would expect from a vehicle this age. The only noteworthy ding is pretty minor and is on the top of the driver's side front fender. I have included a picture of the ding in this listing. The interior is in pretty good shape, though the seats and carpets could use a shampoo. My brother is not known for being neat. My brother gave my dad/me the truck with a set of inexpensive front seat covers; they will come with the truck, as will the Haynes manual for the Cherokee. While the truck has been my daily driver, runs solid and is in good condition, there are a few small issues that any buyer should know about. First, the power locks work, but the doors do not lock from the switch on the driver's door or unlock from the switch on the driver's door when it is open. I replaced the lock/window switch set (and have the old one as a spare), but that made no difference. Apparently this was a common issue with the Cherokee and is a very simple fix. That being said, it hasn't bothered me at all, so I haven't done it. Second, the HVAC blower motor does not blow on all speeds. I have a replacement motor, which will come with the truck, but have not swapped them out. Third, the radio/CD player works fine, but there is a loose wire behind the head unit, so occasionally the rear speakers fade out. Finally, two hands are required to open the rear lift gate. The handle and lift gate work perfect, but two hands to unlatch it. I have lubricated and adjusted the mechanism, but that didn't help. I researched the issue and, again, this is a common issue with the Cherokee. I was about to order a new mechanism and saw on the Jeep bulletin board say that all you need to do is lift the handle gently and "bonk" the lift gate. So I tried it and ... it works every time!According to Kelly Blue Book, I should ask $3,394 for a 1998 Jeep Cherokee with these options and in "Good" condition - and the truck is worth that - but I'm okay letting eBay bidders set the final price. I have set a low $2,000 starting price for the truck with no reserve once the starting price is met. If it goes for more than that, great! If it goes for the starting bid, I’m good with that too.I have tried to provide as much information as possible, but please let me know if you have any questions and I will answer your question to the best of my ability. Also, while I have tried to include a lot of pictures, let me know if you want a specific picture and I will try to take and send anything you want. I have owned and sold many cars – several on eBay, this is a good, solid truck. Just let me know if you want additional information. You can see from my feedback that I am an honest eBayer and previously have sold five other vehicles through eBay – all were great, smooth transactions. Now for the obligatory legalese – The vehicle is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early whether or not bids have been placed. The vehicle is being sold “as is” and “where is”. I have done my best to describe the vehicle accurately and completely, but it is the winning bidder’s responsibility to evaluate the vehicle for him/herself prior to the end of the auction. All costs and fees associated with the transfer of the vehicle and any travel are the sole responsibility of the winning bidder. All information provided is believed to be correct, but is provided without any representation or warranty. By purchasing the vehicle you agree that I have not made any representations or warranties whatsoever with respect to the vehicle. I am not a dealer so I am not offering any kind of warranty on the vehicle. Within 24 hours of the end of the auction the winning bidder must (1) communicate with me by e-mail or telephone, (2) provide me with a copy of their valid, state-issued driver’s license and (3) must make a non-refundable deposit of $2,000. Payment of the balance of the winning price, if any, must be made within 72 hours of the end of the auction. Unless otherwise agreed, both payments must be made by PayPal, cashier's check or money order. You must arrange your financing/funds before you submit a bid to purchase the vehicle. I will not make any exceptions to the payment terms. The winning bidder is responsible for all taxes, fees, transfer and registration costs. The winning bidder is solely responsible for pick-up, transportation, shipping and delivery of the vehicle and all related costs. I will help with shipping arrangements, but the winning bidder is responsible for making all arrangements for the pick-up, transport, shipment and delivery of the vehicle. The vehicle will not be released until payment in full has been confirmed. Once payment in full has been received and confirmed I will, however, at no cost, deliver the vehicle to Regan National Airport, Dulles International Airport, BWI Airport, Union Station (Washington, D.C.), or New Carrolton Train Station (Prince George’s County, Maryland). All you have to do is fly in and drive home. Please ask any questions you have before you bid. If you have 0 feedback or negative feedback do not bid without contacting me first and receiving my approval to bid. Bids from individuals with 0 or negative feedback will be cancelled! Thanks for looking at my Jeep and happy bidding! Good luck!
