Vehicle Detail
Beautiful 1969 Convertible Pontiac Firebird (Matching numbers) with Factory Hurst shifter. This is a resto-mod with with care given to original beauty. Restomodifcation done over the last several years and was completed in 2012: Modern manual 5 speed transmission though I have the original transmission, digital ignition, disk brakes, and a few minor add-ons. Otherwise, car is restored as it was back when. Over $40k invested. Its ready for a trip across country or to a car show. - Engine has less than 5k miles and was completely done to spec minus cylinder bore. - Paint has 8 coats and looks deep and rich. no dings or dents are core scratches. - interior new, though it has some small wear signs- Top new and always kept up with boot that hides convertible when down- rear-end was rebuilt and gear for better ride. smooth and low RPM at 75mph- body solid and clean. - car has been owned since 1999 and resto started in 2003 looking for 28k but will sell for less. On Sep-18-13 at 12:11:47 PDT, seller added the following information: To answer a few questions: The restoration covered replacement sheet metal NOT bondo. Door skins and quarter pieces where repaired with sheet metal or replaced the skins where needed. Hence the solid lines and no wave in paint. Paint had 8 coats of base with metallic then heavy clear coat and buff. $10k in paint alone. Top is electro mechanical and works perfect. The top itself is about 3 years old even though it is stored in a garage. The top hydro cylinders were replaced as well. Everything was rebuilt or replaced from molding, bumpers, dash, brake system, to the alternator. Yes, even the steering box was rebuilt as well as the rear end... and is a 323 limited slip. The motor is original to car and so are the heads (again matching numbers). The car runs beautifully and needs nothing. I added a Sirius satelite radio / mpg / cd player in glove box (hidden as not to take away from he beauty) but the original radio is intact and working... Just disconnected from speakers given the aforementioned. The console, right rear of shifter has a small hole, size of pencil eraser that the veneer popped off. I still have the little piece. a few minor interior scratches on the sides of seat (bracket that holds top of seat to bottom).
