Vehicle Detail
I bought this car in April, 2012 with 72,000 miles for $3,000. It had always been garaged and cared for, but the tires were old, so I bought four new Cooper Trendsetter whitewall tires ($420). It had a bearing noise in left curves that I hadn't noticed, so I took the car to a chain shop that spends millions daily for TV ads and the mechanic said it was obviously the right front wheel bearing. That meant replacement of the entire hub assembly ($235). The mechanic said that the brake pads were thin, so I had him to install new ones. He found that the rotors and one rear wheel cylinder also needed replacing, so the job total came to $603.78 (over $4,000 invested!). The bearing noise was still there! I returned and told the mechanic. He said, "Oh, the right rear bearing must also be bad. Come back tomorrow." I bought a right rear hub assembly ($85) and installed it myself. The bearing noise was still there! I took the car to another mechanic and he said, "It is the left front wheel." He installed the hub assembly ($361.39) and the car provided great transportation until now. In July, I took the car to a garage for a regular service. The garage provides a free check of the car. He discovered that the front tires were worn on the inside edge. The struts need replacing and that includes alignment. I purchased two more new Cooper Trendsetter whitewall tires ($209) but after the ABS light came on and the AC went from cold to cool to warm, I decided not to spend any more on this car. Take a look at the pictures and you can see why my wife and I loved this car. I am the second owner. It has always been kept it in the garage and was never smoked in. The exterior and interior are very nice and the car drives, runs and brakes like it should. There is no rust anywhere. You would never know it needs struts until you see worn tires. A used car dealer would probably sell it for the book price. It is still registered and sitting in the garage, but I need it gone. We bought a used Grand Marquis that is sitting outside! If you have any questions, call me at 856-694-5684. The opening bid is my reserve. No shipping! Test drives are welcome.
