Vehicle Detail
Hello. Time to sell my favorite bike ever. With a new baby and lots of house renovations I have no time to ride it. Time to move on. It is a 1998 ST1100A 85,xxx miles. "A" stands for ABS. Best safety feature you could ever have on a bike. That coupled with the linked brakes make this one of the best stopping large Sport Touring bikes. Look this bike up and you will find nothing but great reviews. I have had the bike since 50k miles in 5 years. It always starts right up. I always use treat the fuel when it is parked and use battery maintainer. It use to be my daily commuter when I lived downstate... I called it my Honda Civic on 2 wheels! This is not a garage queen. There are boot scuffs on the paint and a little tear on the trunk and if you look close you can see some scratches. I do my own maintenance and mods. There are lots on this bike. Some were done before I bought it from the airplane mechanic previous owner. You will not find one more ready to go and travel anywhere. -Tires are recently new -Valves, timing belt, checked ok when due. Coolant flushed last year. Brake and clutch fluid flushed and renewed this spring. Brake pads are skinny but new ones on bench go with it. -electric windshield. never came on an ST1100 but I made one fit off an BMW R1100RT. still have the original parts and 3 other windshields to fit it. All original parts and 2 windshields go with it. Would take about an hour to put back to OE. Never a problem with the wire harness I made or the strength of the brackets I made. -hyper-pro rear spring on stock shock so you can load it and it still rides right. I am 6'5" and 225lb so with 2 up and luggage it would bottom with the original spring. -progressive wound front springs , forget the brand. set to recommended ride height. -K&N drop in filter -all electrical additions go through a key switch activated relay to fuse block near the tail of the bike. -power outlet -throttle lock -heated grips -volt meter added in dash -headlight modulator -brake light modulator -fog lights -air horn -accessories painted white to make black bike more visible and reflective pin striping. -trunk with lights -handlebar risers -made my own highway pegs that mount to tip over wings. still have the covers. -made my own luggage rack out of aluminum, if you hate it, 4 bolts and its off. I have carried everything from weed whackers to firewood to vacuum cleaners and an air conditioner once! - feet wind/water deflectors -V-strom hand guards to help with cold wind and bugs hitting hands -aftermarket seat... forget the brand but is more of a bucket for driver and taller for passenger - Could use a left side exhaust collector. Ride worthy as-is however there is a small exhaust leak. - Swing arm is another place these bikes are known to rot away and this one is in good shape still. -I am sure there are more that I forget This is a decent bike that has never been crashed. I am still riding it so the mileage is still increasing.
