1984 1985 BMW R80ST R80 ST S/T Street G/S GS Airhead Auction No Reserve Low Mile CLICK IMAGE TO ENLARGE Description 1984 BMW R80ST (R80 S/T) Airhead Daily rider in excellent shape For auction is my very nice two-owner 1984 BMW R80ST airhead. This bike is in excellent shape, always taken care, well maintained and recently tuned up. This R80ST has less than 26k original miles on the odometer. I am the second owner, having purchased the bike from the original owner. Clean CA title and current CA registration through 2014 in my name. The R80ST has good tires, less than 1000 miles on the rear and less than 2500 on the front. Full recent tuneup, with all fluids. Fresh oil in crankcase, Castrol GTX. New Castrol gear oil in transmission, driveshaft, and final drive cases. Front caliper just rebuilt with new seals. Rear drum brake adjusteda and works great. Seat cover is in excellent shape. All electrical works perfectly (turn signals, headlight, tail/brake light, horn, starter). Charging system works perfectly and battery is good. Gas tank is clean, and new fuel filter installed. Bike needs fork seals and fresh oil in the forks. Both seals are leaking a little, and the oil is old. The bike is also missing both left and right side covers Bike has had one repaint in the original color (red). Paint is not perfect, but looks nice. No scratches, but a little orange peel and crazing on the rear fender. I'm listing this auction with no reserve. The R80ST is located at my shop in Carlsbad, CA 92011. The motorcycle will need to be picked up here in person, or shipped. I am happy to help in shipping the bike, but the buyer makes all arrangements and pays for shipping. I prefer payment to be made with cash in person, but will accept PayPal or credit cards with a 5% fee to cover charges I will incur. Full payment and pickup must be made within 5 days of the auction closing. A $300 non-refundable deposit via PayPal is due within 24 hours of the auction closing, or I will relist the item. Description update: Some of the backlight bulbs on the gauges are burnt out. The indicator lights work (neutral, high beam, generator, turn signals, etc) but the backlight bulbs are dead. I might have these replaced before the auction ends if I have time, but no guarantees on that. The front brake could use new brake pads. When I bought the bike the front caliper sealing o-ring was bad and brake fluid had leaked all over the pads. They have plenty of life left in them, and have been cleaned thoroughly. However, being saturated with brake fluid in the past makes them not engage the disc as well as new pads would. The paint job is nice overall, but there is some overspray on both sides of the engine, although it's not noticeable unless very close. The rubber mounts for the battery tray are old, and the left side rubber is brittle and broken. However the tray is mounted at the bottom as well and is not loose. I'm detailing the minor negatives on this bike just to be 100% accurate of it's condition. None of these items are much of a problem.
