Vehicle Detail

All steel 1972 Ford Bronco Explorer Sport. Strong 302 V8 with a mild upgraded camshaft, factory Ford aluminum intake, brand new Holley 650 carburetor, duraspark distributor, MSD 6AL box, Accel coil, ATI harmonic balancer, and a Griffin 4 core radiator. Exhaust consists of James Duff headers and Flowmaster 70 series mufflers with custom bent aluminized 2 1/2” pipes exiting behind each rear wheel. Sounds nice but not obnoxiously loud and doesn’t drone on the highway. Dana 44 front axle with power disc brakes, power steering and 9 inch rear with a Ford traction lock and a TSM rear disc brake conversion. 4:10 gears in both axles. Rebuilt factory 3 speed transmission with a Brute clutch and a Hurst floor shifter. Rebuilt factory transfer case with a twin stick shifter. Suspension is all James Duff. 4” long arm lift kit with 4” lift leaf springs in the rear. No lift blocks. Also has the dual shock setup with the mounting hoops in the front and dual shocks in the rear. James Duff traction bars for the rear. Rolls on a set of Vintage “Hurricane” style 15x10 wheels wrapped in 33x12.50 BF Goodrich All Terrains. Spare is a black steel wheel with a generic 33x12.50 tire. Interior has recently been redone. All new upholstery, new black carpeting throughout including for the tailgate, fresh door panels, ¼ panel trim, and arm rests. Dash is painted wimbledon white to match the roof. Later rebuilt steering column with a factory Ford sport steering wheel. The body is all steel and it has only been painted once. I have owned the truck since 1992 and purchased it in Colorado with 68,000 miles and in the original paint. Drove it back home to NH and used it as my daily driver throughout that winter and the following summer. In the fall of 93 it was completely disassembled and the restoration process began. Every nut and bolt was cleaned and painted. Frame and axles were sand blasted, painted black and a gallon of clear was sprayed over the black. At this time the axles were completely rebuilt with all new bearings, seals, gaskets, and all the ball joints were changed. Front power disc brakes and power steering were added at this time as well as the first 4” lift kit that went on the truck to later be changed out for the far nicer James Duff suspension it has now. That stage took 4 years to complete. Then the bodywork started. This was a pretty clean original Colorado truck but it did require some work to make it right. The front floors needed some repairs, new rockers were installed, and the driver’s front fender was replaced. Truck was taken down to bare metal and properly etched before multiple coats of epoxy primer were laid down. Truck was painted in 1997 with 4 coats of Dupont Chromabase dark sapphire metallic blue basecoat and six coats of clear before it was wet sanded and buffed. The roof and dash were painted the same way but in Wimbledon white. In 2000 the James Duff Suspension system was installed and the rear TSM disc brake kit was installed. The interior was just recently refreshed with all new upholstery, carpet, trim panels, etc. This is a very reliable truck that goes down the road great, stops straight, and turns heads wherever it goes. I wouldn’t think twice about hopping in it and heading across country at a moment’s notice. It has never let me down in 21 years. It has also won numerous awards at car shows and truck shows throughout the past 15 years or so. It’s a very nice, reliable and ALL STEEL early Bronco. This is an older restoration and it does have a few minor blemishes. There is a small blister at the lower rear corner of each door. The seam on the driver’s side quarter has a blister about the size of a pencil eraser. The bottom of the driver’s side tail light panel has two small spots. The upper driver’s tail light panel has a small spot where the paint chipped and it’s just starting to rust. There is a small bubble on the head light panel. These are VERY minor issues but like a lot of car guys I tend to be overly critical of my own stuff. I’ve treated this Bronco like a member of the family for over 20 years and it has always been garaged. It hasn’t seen winter since 1992. I absolutely love the truck but it now rarely gets used (only has a bit over 83,000 miles on it now and I purchased it in 1992 with 68,000) and it’s just time to move on.
