Vehicle Detail

General: You are bidding on a factory supercharged 1963 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk. It is being offered with NO RESERVE. It is one of 276 1963 Gran Turismo Hawks factory equipped with an R2 Supercharged 289 V8 engine (numbers match build sheet.) It is factory equipped with a four speed transmission, power steering, and power disc brakes. Please see the image of the factory build sheet for further details. NOTE: Avanti R1 and R2 engines were available on 1963 Studebaker Larks and Hawks from the beginning of the 1963 model year, however, the High Performance Package was not offered until the spring of 1963. This Hawk is factory equipped with the Avanti R2 supercharged engine, but is not equipped with the full High Performance Package, as it was not available when this car was built. Exterior: The car was restored by a previous owner. It is finished in a non-authentic blue metallic and fitted with a non-factory half vinyl roof. Other non-authentic exterior items include the "supercharged" script badges (from an Avanti), taillight housings (from a 1964 GT Hawk,) and grille badge (the R2 grille badge was only fitted to cars equipped with the High Performance Package, this car was built before the Package was introduced.) The paint is overall is good shape, but does show scrapes and imperfections. Front fenders show evidence of repair and some rust bubbling out (see pictures). There is evidence of filler cracking in the rear quarter panels, and some areas of paint crazing. Brightwork is in very good shape. One of the Lucite front fender spears is broken. Front bumper is either slightly bent or misadjusted - sticks out more on drivers side than passenger side. Rear deck lid overlay has two sheet metal screws holding it on in the upper corners and appears to have been touched up at some point. Interior: The seats are in good shape and appear to have been recovered. Carpeting has some blemishes (see pictures). Door panels and headliner are in very nice condition. Radio is not installed - is in trunk. Instruments bezels are corroded some, but may polish up. Mechanical: The car runs, drives, and stops. The engine shows +/- 30 lbs. oil pressure at approx. 1500 rpm. (see picture of instrument panel taken while car is running). The supercharger is very noisy. Power steering is functional. The car is equipped with a Hurst shifter. Mileage shows 19,xxx, but is not believed to be accurate - actual mileage is unknown. Could very well be 119,xxx miles. Brakes are spongy. Engine number matches build sheet (See image of Factory Production Order). Structural: Frame appears solid and hog troughs are intact, but some evidence of rust is present at the hog trough-to-rocker panel seams. There is some surface rust and minor rust scale on the frame (see pictures). Trunk floor has been repaired with fiberglass (see pictures). Underbody door pillar support ("the batwing") is present but not attached to door hinge pillars (see photos). Trunk corners show evidence of minor rust from underneath (see pictures). Other: Radio, original shifter, and copy of factory production order included in sale. The car may be inspected in person by calling (574) 235-9129 (Drew) or (574) 235-9067 (Andy) or email with questions or for additional pictures. Terms: Will sell to US only. Title is in hand and will be accompanied by bill of sale. Title will be released when car is picked up. All arrangements for pickup/shipping are the responsibility of the buyer. Cash, Certified Funds, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express accepted. We do not use PayPal. Questions: Email or call with questions or for additional pictures.
